Discrimination Essay

By: Joseph Gomez

As you can tell we still have Discrimination in America today, its kind of easy to confuse racism with discrimination is what some people think. I say this because some people just don’t like a certain race or they segregate themselves from them so I guess there both kind of the same. Anyways Discrimination has been going on since the mostly the 1900’s to now a days society, today people now discriminate on gay or homosexual people for being gay. Some states in the U.S.A don’t allow gay marriage there and tell them to get lost. Religion is another problem happening today, so many religions have them do opseered things, not all really, mostly Muslim. Muslims follow I different type of God in which religion is everything if you didn’t listen it would be like the mid- evil ages, they would have everyone follow there rules. Still Discrimination affects mostly everyone no matter who you are, what race, or what sex. But since then discrimination has gone down in most areas not just the U.S.A.

The muckraker for this topic was W.E.B. Du Bois who was an African American. He had graduate from Harvard University and had become the first African American to earn a doctorate form Harvard University. He wanted African Americans to stand up and fight for equality; he also supported women’s rights. He helped in Africa; he had died at the age of 95, August 27, 1963 at Accra, Ghana while writing a book. He was concerned cause he grew up this in his lifetime and didn’t want to see it go any further, especially with people being lynched and be fired form jobs, just cause your black. Change is what Du Bois did, telling people that they deserve better and than are just some pick of crap that people avoid. His results have changed the country for better, if not for him almost everyone would still be under control or they all would have killed each other for disrespecting each other. Although discrimination still exist, the world has been less diverse and almost all of the old problems have resolved and that’s about all it.
