I've never seen such frank language in public from the Diplomatic community before. This is an extremely angry British Ambassador. Quite right too.

The FCO has a whole section of bloggery under the heading "Global Conversations". Which is admirable - and a potential resource for us to track for trends, heads-up(s) and so forth.

Here's some interesting lateral thinking - and a good way to generate some electrical power in an area that is very short of it.

 

Lake Kivu in east Africa is laden with potentially dangerous gases but there is a plan to extract some to generate electricity - making the lake safer in the process.
