For Exams, is Using the Internet Considered Cheating?

For Exams, is Using the Internet Considered Cheating? | Digitalmente | Scoop.it
In November 2009, 14 Danish upper secondary schools used the Internet during written exams, and a follow-up report in 2010 by a group of auditors concluded that the experiment was a success. “The Internet is an integrated part of students’ everyday lives and education so this development is natural. The experiment shows there is a range of positive effects,” the Danish minister of education is quoted as saying.

Is Montessori The Origin Of Google & Amazon? - Forbes

Is Montessori The Origin Of Google & Amazon? - Forbes | Digitalmente | Scoop.it
The Montessori learning method establishes a collaborative environment without grades or tests, multi-aged classrooms, as well as self-directed learning and discovery for long blocks of time.

Montessori methods go against the grain of traditional educational methods but they have uncanny parallels in the success of their alumni:

Google [[GOOG] wasn’t launched by Larry Page and Sergei Brin as a brilliant vision, but rather as a project to improve library searches, followed by a series of small discoveries that unlocked a revolutionary business model.

Amazon’s [AMZN] strategy by Jeff Bezos involves developing ideas in new markets similar to “planting seeds” or “going down blind alleys.” Amazon’s executives learn and uncover opportunities as they go, with many dead ends but also sometimes a huge, broad avenue.

Introducing the Lean-Agile PMO

Introducing the Lean-Agile PMO | Digitalmente | Scoop.it

Some time ago, I posted my 5Qs on Agile interview with PM Boulevard. In that interview, one of the tough questions was, "what is the biggest challenge to implementing Agile methods?" Now, this is a tough question to answer because there are numerous challenges to implementing Agile - ranging from appropriate organizational readiness and good team member capability to a clear business objective for moving to a new project delivery methodology.

Nine steps to quality online learning: introduction - Tony Bates

Nine steps to quality online learning: introduction - Tony Bates | Digitalmente | Scoop.it

I developed these nine steps in response to requests about how to ensure quality when starting an online course or program. Now there are lots of excellent e-learning quality assurance standards, organizations and research available online, and I’m not going to duplicate these. Instead, I’m going to suggest a series of practical steps towards implementing such standards.

How technology (and a controversial idea) can start to fix education

How technology (and a controversial idea) can start to fix education | Digitalmente | Scoop.it

"Recent reports indicate that Chinese 15-year-olds are outscoring students around the world in basic subjects like math, science, and reading. The recent education improvements in China have been linked to an overall emphasis on educating the entire population instead of focusing on a class system which focused primarily on students who tested high in their early years. With increased globalization, China has realized the need to educate their entire population in order to become an economic powerhouse in an increasingly information-based society."

Konstantinos Kalemis's comment, May 20, 2012 4:55 AM
Today, computer involment in classroom is immence. We have e-learning lesson plans, enhahced with WEB.2 tools for immediate reaction. I know I have created a rich learning event when all my students are engaged in arguing about the best approach to the assignment. When we use questions and problems that allow for multiple strategies to reach a successful outcome, then we can speak that we gave students the opportunity to make choices and then compare their approaches. This strategy challenges them to operate at a higher level of thinking than when they can share only the "correct" answer. And this is only possible in class.
