Conquering Marketing Management Overload | Dam Foundation

Conquering Marketing Management Overload | Dam Foundation | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Three challenges for modern marketers and how to turn them into opportunities.

Traditionally, a marketer’s primary concern was having the right message, delivered through the right media, to the right people, and at the right time. There were fewer channels and less content, and that made the management and distribution of messages a much more manageable process.

Future of Business: Is Your Team in the Cloud? | Conversation Agent | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Most department stores use a matrix of good, better, and best for merchandising. For example in dinnerware they will have a low, middle, and high price point in several styles to choose from. In the 80's specialty stores came along like the Gap, Staples, etc. trying to dominate in one category.

The core of Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie stores is the idea of cutting across demographics. To do that successfully, they create an environment based on how their customers want to live. This is from a post I wrote 4 years ago about how Anthropologie thrives with no advertising.

One of the ingredients in their recipe for success is: Hiring the right people.

An internal focus group conducted by Anthropologie revealed that diversity and passion are the two most important employee attributes towards their success. The company employs many women in senior leadership roles including people from all over the world......

Google+ to Lead to the Comeback of Google's Realtime Search

Google+ to Lead to the Comeback of Google's Realtime Search | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Google Search team is actively working on bringing Google Realtime Search back to search results, after its hiatus that began in July. The service had been revoked due to Google's failure to come to an agreement with Twitter, whose data Google had been accessing to deliver accurate real-time results. Without Twitter's data, the feature was subpar, resulting in its discontinuation.

So why the Realtime revival now? Simple: Google+.

In addition to other social sources, with the real-time data that Google+'s social network can provide, Google believes the feature can again be robust enough to re-introduce to search results, even without data from Twitter.

Google is also working on adding a search function to the Google+ stream, which it currently lacks and is one of Google+'s most requested features.

FlixMaster: Interactive, immersive HTML5 video is finally on the Internet | digitalassetman | Scoop.it
Video on the Internet has held a lot of promises and with those promises it has been given a lot of responsibility. I’ve heard it said more than once that the integration of video is what will be the defining difference between the Web 2.0 world that we’re in now and the live-action, self-directed Web 3.0 world that we’re entering.

DBG launches premium video syndication platform | GigaOM

DBG launches premium video syndication platform | GigaOM | digitalassetman | Scoop.it

Digital Broadcasting Group (DBG) may be best know for producing high-quality web-original video content like Kiefer Sutherland’s The Confession or Seth Green’s ControlTV. Now the online video production company is getting into the distribution game, opening up its platform to allow third parties to syndicate and monetize their premium online videos.

With the launch of DBG’s new Content Library Platform, (CLiP) the startup hopes to create editorially curated verticals of premium content, which publishing partners can embed on their own web pages. DBG will then sell video advertising against that inventory and share revenues with publishers and video producers that are part of the network....

Video As Project Documentation | Dam Foundation

Video As Project Documentation | Dam Foundation | digitalassetman | Scoop.it
Everybody hates doing documentation. Anyone who claims to enjoy doing should be on some kind of watch list. Robin East (@insidedctm) asked the question on twitter today
project documentation: “documents” on their own are totally inadequate. Wikis are barely better. Anyone tried something else?
The most effective documentation experience I ever had was the first where, as an afterthought, we incorporated video.

85% of Video App Users Watching Same or More Scheduled TV: Study

85% of Video App Users Watching Same or More Scheduled TV: Study | digitalassetman | Scoop.it
For those fearing that video consumption through mobile and connected devices threatens to disrupt traditional linear TV viewership, a new study suggests it's not happening en masse, at least not yet. The study, fielded by Nielsen and the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) indicates that 85% of video app users are watching the same or more regularly scheduled TV. There's no trend data however, so it's not clear how the amount compares to a year or two ago.
