Rule #4: Share others’ content more than your content. There are many rules of social sharing (the 80/20 rule, the golden ratio, the rule of thirds and so on) and they all say you should share more of other people’s content than your own.

7 Keys of Telling a Powerful Story on Social Media

7 Keys of Telling a Powerful Story on Social Media | Social media, gender equality, workplace issues, start ups and parenting | Scoop.it

Social media platforms are not just distribution channels but a conversation channel where people share experiences, opinions, values, feelings and dreams. So the next time you market on social media, engage your audience by telling them your non-linear brand’s story and what it means. Without being hard sell, you can move consumers from “sharing” to “purchasing” just like 40% of social media users in a recent study published by Vision Critical. You can drive consumers from just “trying you out” to being “loyal to your brand.”

Here are seven keys to effective storytelling on social media for brand marketing:

Story telling was once a very strong part of many cultures and in the western world was becoming a lost art with the rise of the 5 second attention span. Now Social Media is playing it part in the revival. Three cheers.

We talked about SEO in class and I think this article has great tips on how to accomplish ranking higher in Google results. Having a great title is really important when it comes to being ranked higher on Google. Obiviously the title tag needs to be short, this article says under 55 words and the keywords that you expect people to look up in order to find you need to be in the title. Using visual media also helps because its boosts the user-interaction signals that Google pays attention to. As stated before, mentioning keywords is crucial. The more keywords, the better.

Twitter’s Latest Experiment: Analytics Within Tweets

Twitter’s Latest Experiment: Analytics Within Tweets | Social media, gender equality, workplace issues, start ups and parenting | Scoop.it

Twitter experiments with at least one new feature each and every day, and while most of these are simply that – experiments – some do move out of the beta process and become system-wide.

One of the latest experiments spotted in the wild is inbuilt analytics within tweets, which tells you exactly how well (or poorly) your tweet is doing.

Twitter opened its analytics.twitter.com platform to all users back in August, and it’s great way to track the performance of your tweets day-to-day.

There is the obvious connection with search giant Google themselves but with this comes a wealth of benefits that can add value to your business online. In fact Google has described it as a “social layer” that enhances many of its online properties.

Attachment Issues: Debunking the Parenting Wars

Attachment Issues: Debunking the Parenting Wars | Social media, gender equality, workplace issues, start ups and parenting | Scoop.it

Whatever parenting approach you choose, someone in your circle will have a strong opinion about why it is wrong. There is only one right way, our closest advisers often insist, and that way is “their” way.

Lately, however, one approach to parenting has become an especially heated battleground. Attachment parenting—usually associated with co-sleeping, baby-“wearing” and prolonged breast-feeding—is heard increasingly often these days. Yet it isn’t always well understood, even by those who support it. What is “attachment,” what does it have to do with parenting, and how does it relate to mental health and well-being?

I've been trying to predict some of the things that will happen in the future of social media and i think this article is very accurate!

Ako A.'s curator insight, November 25, 2014 8:09 PM

The article predicts the top 7 social media marketing trends that will dominate 2015. One trend is the rise of Ello. The website offers a ad-free experience and promises to never sell its users’ information to third parties. Another trend is that Facebook advertisement pricing and demand will significantly increase. This is happening at the same time of Facebook's post reach declining. Twitter's new business advertising model's popularity is predicted to increase next year. This is the result of Twitter offering businesses more choices and flexibility in how and what they pay in advertising. Google + is predicted to decline. The article claims that the social networking site does not offer anything that twitter. Facebook, and LinkedIn doesn't offer. Instagram is predicted to be essential for image based social media marketing. Instagram's popularity continues to increase and this will be an excellent opportunity for business to take advantage of the social media platform. LinkedIn may continue to grow and widen the gap between their organization and competitors. The Business to Business network may continue to be the top network of choice for their users. Social media marketing may finally be embraced as a core pillar of content marketing. Marketers may learn that social media marketing is essential to expanding the reach of their content.

Anne Mercer's curator insight, November 26, 2014 10:00 AM

Great insight. Not too sure that G+ will die into obscurity. The core group of users and influencers on that particular social channel have proven time and time again that the network is useful...so long as you put time and effort into your attempt!
