I think this article is excellent because newsletter/email marketing is still very much alive. The reason why individuals think its dead is because many are not doing it correctly. 

 

The first tip that this article gives is to "Send your own emails" which is extremely important. If you have a company that generates your own emails, it takes away from the company in the sense that you are not allowing your brand to speak. The company doesn't realize what your message/brand are therefore they are unlikey to have a successful message sent out. 


The second tip that I thought was the most useful and effective was "to be personal." This is important because as a customer, you would rather see a company that is interacting with their clients rather than a spam email being sent out. Offering customers a chance to reply back and give their feedback is also very important. 

 

"Adding Narrative" is the next topic that is discussed in which I think is important, this allows again for clients and customers to be interactive. Its important for customers to see where the company stands so potentially giving a brief update each month onto how your doing as a company is important. 

 

The final concept discussed throughout this article is to run A/B tests, these are important in determining what your customers are doing when they open up the email. For example, google analytics lets you see how many customers bought something via email newsletter. At my internship I am allowed to see how much the company made in a day via email newsletter. This is very important because it gives you a proper idea of where you stand within your competition.

This article talks about the issue that advertisers face in keeping a uniform message to consumers who are switching between devices. The article describes a favorable and accurate approach—known as the deterministic approach—an advertiser uses to match a user to his or her device. In the deterministic approach, the advertiser uses the consumer’s login data to figure out which devices he or she is using. Login data tells the advertiser if the consumer is using a desktop, tablet, mobile, etc. This information reveals certain behaviors known to correlate with using different devices.

This is an extremely relevant topic to the mobile marketing world. As the article mentioned, advertisers and marketers have to keep a consistent and relevant message to consumers in order to reach higher sales and conversion rates. Figuring out which device a consumer is using gives insight into his or her activity allows marketers to adapt this targeted message based on the behavior from whichever device. After all, a user is probably a lot more easily distracted on his or her mobile device than on a desktop.
