Digital Darwinism: How Disruptive Technology Is Changing Business for Good | Digit All | Scoop.it

"Social media, mobile, wearables, Internet of Things, real-time — these are just some of the technologies that are disrupting markets. Changes in how people communicate, connect, and discover are carrying incredible implications for businesses and just about anything where people are involved. It’s not so much that technology is part of our everyday life or that technology is relentless in its barrage on humanity."

Dru Nicolas's insight:

The road to digital transformation is far from easy, but it carries great rewards for businesses and customers alike. It takes a village to bring about change, and it also takes the spark and perseverance of one person to spot important trends and create a sense of urgency around new possibilities.

Better Decisions with Smarter Data

Better Decisions with Smarter Data | Digit All | Scoop.it

"While the concept of information overload isn’t a new one — Alvin Toffler introduced it back in 1984, in his book Future Shock — it seems more relevant now than ever. Particularly for the growing number of organizations with a mandate to make more strategic and operational decisions based on data — or facts — in environments saturated with data. There is so much data in market and non-market environments that it has become a cliché to note data generation and consumption in funny terms like exabytes (sounds like an orthodontist’s call to action) or zettabytes (a word that, for some people, may call to mind toothsome college fraternity zombies). The irony, however, is that there can be both too much data yet too little good data available when the time comes to make decisions."

Dru Nicolas's insight:

In our time where the data drive most of decisions and at the same time when we are submerged by a number always more important of data, it becomes crucial to identify those which are the most coherent.

Following this article, according to data and analytics survey,  "to be smart, data must be:

Accurate – data must be what it says it is with enough precision to drive value. Data quality matters.Actionable – data must drive an immediate scalable action in a way that maximizes a business objective like media reach across platforms. Scalable action matters.Agile – data must be available in real-time and ready to adapt to the changing business environment. Flexibility matters."

(Entreprise 2.0, RH 2.0) | Digit All | Scoop.it

A retenir :

"Although the impact of digitization is not new, the digital economy is entering a new age that presents unprecedented challenges for all CEOs.

Digital tools are invading the business environment, provoking significant changes in the way we work, communicate, and sell. This has given rise to new opportunities and challenges, and has triggered the Digital Transformation of enterprises."

"We believe that digital transformation is first and foremost a business transformation. People, not technology, are the most important piece in the digital transformation puzzle."

Dr Didier Bonnet

Senior VP leading Digital Transformation program at Capegemini Consulting

Dru Nicolas's insight:

Embracing Digital Technology

Embracing Digital Technology | Digit All | Scoop.it
The 2013 Digital Transformation Report by MIT Sloan Management Review and Capgemini Consulting.
Dru Nicolas's insight:

Welcome to the age of Hyper Clouds!

Welcome to the age of Hyper Clouds! | Digit All | Scoop.it
You all must have just heard about it. Today Google announced its Google Cloud Platform. If you haven't, go quickly to the newly announced Google platform to see for it yourself. And you know something? You can already start computing in the cloud as the platform is live! I'm writing this in a hurry and…
Dru Nicolas's insight:

Google has the scale, it also has the modern technologies with Big Query , Big Table, Map Reduce/Hadoop, Dremel etc and finally they have all elements of the digital disruption (mobile, big data & cloud) many business leaders are so hopeful of putting to production use. It still remains to be seen if they can handle and manage enterprise workloads while providing uninterrupted service, security, manageability (service integration and management) and reliability.

What Digital Transformation Means for Business

What Digital Transformation Means for Business | Digit All | Scoop.it

"New technologies are changing the nature of business in powerful and unpredictable ways. Digital technologies such as mobile computing, social media, analytics, cloud computing and sensor-driven autonomous machines offer both promise and pitfalls. All can be transformative, but none are guaranteed to do anything transformative, or even valuable."

Dru Nicolas's insight:

Kim Stevenson, Intel’s chief information officer; Mark Norman, the president of Zipcar, now part of Avis; Andy McAfee, a principal research scientist at the MIT Center for Digital Business; and Didier Bonnet, senior vice president and global practice leader at Capgemini Consulting, take part in discussion on subject of Digital Transformation.

A very interesting discussion which lead all-star panel to point out that executives must think about the opportunities new technologies open up, and then use data to define the ones to adopt.

The chosen technologies have to be implement through iterative steps, with regular assessments, in order to define processes because more change is coming.

The Foundation Components For Digital Transformation

The Foundation Components For Digital Transformation | Digit All | Scoop.it

"You’ve heard from many people that Digital Transformation is all the rage now. right?

Can you explain what it is?

How about what you have to do in your organization to be prepared (or even to be able to understand it enough to have a decent conversation)?

If you said no, or are not sure, you are not alone.  Virtually everywhere I go these days this is the conversation we are having: what it is, how it works, what do I need to know and do, and what is the timeframe to get it done.

I will try to address as much as possible of these questions, and this post will frame my thinking for the research I am conducting in the next 2-3 years.  This is the biggest thing to hit Enterprise Technology since I started, am looking for at least a decade if not longer of expansion and excitement."

Dru Nicolas's insight:

The digital transformation is directly connected to generational and paradigm shifts. They implies to understand  them and more important to understand their impact on each component of value chain. This article  reviews foundation elements layers for digital transformation

The Nine Elements of Digital Transformation | MIT Sloan Management Review

The Nine Elements of Digital Transformation | MIT Sloan Management Review | Digit All | Scoop.it

Currently, no company in our sample has fully transformed all nine elements. Rather, executives are selecting among these building blocks to move forward in the manner that they believe is right for their organizations. In this article, we highlight some of the ways that companies we studied are changing these nine areas

Dru Nicolas's insight:

        + Beaucoup d'entreprises  commencent à tirer profit

de  leurs investissements dans le Digital au

travers d'une meilleure compréhension de leurs

            clients

Digital transformation: what it is and how to get there

Digital transformation: what it is and how to get there | Digit All | Scoop.it

"Today, digital is moving into the heart of every customer-facing discipline: sales, marketing, service and beyond, powered by three drivers:

The self-educating consumer empowered by searchThe connected conversation driven by social mediaThe always-on economy powered by mobile

It’s not good enough to have a freestanding ‘digital team’ any more. Today’s winners will be the companies who weave digital into everything they do."

Ashley Friedlein

Dru Nicolas's insight:
