Amin Elhassan has ideas about how the Bulls might be able to acquire a stopgap replacement for Derrick Rose, like Isaiah Thomas or Goran Dragic.
steven schmitt's insight:

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is injured and is out for the rest of the season. The Bulls need a replacement point guard and Nate Robinson is no longer in the roster. Nate Robinson was the Bulls point guard for the season after Derrick Rose got injured. There are three different “deal sweeteners”. First, Chicago owns all of its first- and second-round picks moving forward. Second, Chicago owns Charlotte's first-round pick (top-10 protected this year, top-8 protected next year and unprotected in 2016). Third, Chicago owns the rights to European phenom, Nikola Mirotic. The bulls are in a difficult situation.

steven schmitt's insight:

The Chicago Bulls were aiming high once again when Derrick Rose returned but yet another injury and Rose is out the remainder of this season. The injury happened playing the Portland Trailblazers when he lost his footing when trying to change direction to get back on defense after Nicholas Batum stole a pass from Jakim Noah. He limped across the court and couldn’t put any weight on his right knee. The bulls were expected to challenge LeBron James and the Miami Heat for supremacy in the Eastern conference. The Bulls haven’t won a championship since the Michael Jordan-Scottie Pippen era. The Bulls are expecting Rose to start a good season next year.

steven schmitt's insight:

Derrick is back with his full skills and power. Scoring twenty two points he will have a great season. In this video he makes a very acrobatic shot after crossing one of the Detroit pistons players. Jumping off his right leg could almost lead to another injury!. Also, in this video Derrick rose gets a sweet dunk, makes two jump shots and a sweet drive under the hoop. After this game and probably more great games by Derrick Rose, he will be one of the best point guards in this NBA season. Derrick Rose sure made a lot of fans happy.

CHICAGO -- Forget about the neck stiffness that almost postponed Derrick Rose's homecoming. Forget about all those missed shots, too.
steven schmitt's insight:

It’s just like old times, Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks with a game winning baseline floater over the 7-foot Chandler and Raymond Felton for the go-ahead basket, drawing a standing ovation from the delirious crowd of 22,022.  Derrick rose had 18 points on 7-of-23 shooting and committed four turnovers. After the game changing shot with only 5.7 seconds left in the game, Carmelo Anthony shot a long jumper to win the game but missed and put his hands on his waist and watched the Bulls celebrate their exciting win. The Bulls improved to 27-21 in home openers.

Derrick Rose leaves with knee injury in Bulls' loss
USA TODAY
The severity of the injury is not yet known — the Bulls classified it simply as a "right knee injury" — but there was no contact on the injury.
steven schmitt's insight:

Chicago Bulls starting point guard Derrick Rose limps off the court in the third quarter of a game against the Portland Trailblazers. Scoring 20 points with 5 rebounds Rose torn his meniscus in his right knee. Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau said during the post-game news conference that Rose would have an MRI in Los Angeles. Tom Thibodeau is very concerned and also mentioned that Rose cannot push off on the knee. Rose sat out the entire 2012-2013 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Luckily it was not the same knee as last season. Rose also had some issues with his right knee earlier this season injuring his right hamstring.

NBA: With Rose back, Bulls aiming high again

NBA: With Rose back, Bulls aiming high again | derrick rose | Scoop.it
Welcome back, Derrick Rose. Welcome back to title contention, Chicago Bulls.
steven schmitt's insight:

The Chicago bulls are aiming high to LeBron James and the Miami Heat. After a missed season and surgery on roses left knee he wants it all. Derrick rose said, "That's our No. 1 goal is winning the title. “We’re not worried about anything else. We're not worried about what people say about us or what's going on the outside. We're just worried about the Bulls and how good we get every day." There is a reason for the bulls aiming high and wanting a title. It’s because Derrick Rose is back with his skills. The question is; can Rose regain his MVP form.

After 525 Days, Bulls' Rose Set To Return
NBA.com (blog)
That's the date Rose's left knee shredded under him in the final minutes of his team's playoff opener against Philadelphia.
steven schmitt's insight:

Derrick Rose has been out for 525 days and is now playing in the preseason. Derrick Rose was leading his team on April 28, 2012 and as he took his first dribble against the Indiana Pacers he sadly got carried out of the gym on live TV. His leg shredded under himself. His physical education and mental outlook got a lot of questions. Rose was considering sitting out the rest of the season. That is what he did; they also said that he was bulls best player. Derrick Rose said that he wanted to return with full power and skills.
