A very nice description of a day in the future with the Internet of Things in place. Obviously, most of the features improve personal productivity and comfort. As the author correctly points out, most of the required technology is already in place. However, there will be a tremendous amount of integration effort required to make everything work together seamlessly. Standards will probably be the key for this.

Steve Karam's comment, April 4, 2013 6:57 PM
Agreed...particularly between components outside the home. One company might make lamps, coffee makers, soap trays, etc. that all work together; but what about the gas pump? that would obviously require standards to make it work. Standards and commodity/minuscule components are key.

Thanks for scooping!
