                               The Spanish-American war was the first and biggest step that the United States of America took toward imperialism. Cuba was the largest island that was a colony of spain until freed in the spanish american war.The Capture of Guam was a bloodless event between the United States and the Kingdom of Spain during the Spanish-American War. With its victory and subsequent annexation of the Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico, the United States stood poised to enter the 20th century as an imperial power. John Hay was statesman that negotiate the treaty of paris of 1898 which ended up  the spanish-american war. Panama canall constucted in early 1900s by US across panma that connets the atlanic and pacific oceans.The spanish american war made an independent nation, and philippiness, guam, and puerto rico came under american control. The Platt amendment of 1901 was an amendment to a joint resolution of the U.S congrees to replace the early teller amendment. Havana Habor was the prot havan, the capital of cuba, and it is the main.
