The Teacher's Guide To Digital Citizenship

The Teacher's Guide To Digital Citizenship | Curriculum resource reviews | Scoop.it
Digital citizenship is important to understand for today's students, staff, and teachers. Microsoft has just unveiled a free curriculum that gives great tips and ideas on teaching digital citizenship and creative content.

Curriculum units to help young people learn about ethical and responsible online behaviour.

Anne Whaits's curator insight, January 31, 2013 4:19 PM

"Four units comprise the curriculum resources. Each unit consists of standalone yet complementary lesson plans that play off a creative rights scenario presented through a case study.

Each unit has 4-6 of these project-oriented activities, one of which serves as the culminating lesson for the unit. Guiding questions help set the expectation for what students learn, and pre/post assessments establish baseline knowledge to gauge student learning. Modification and Extension suggestions recommend ways to abridge or expand the activities within the unit, and provide tips for engaging parents and peers outside of the classroom.

You’ll have to register to download the actual units (PDF format)."

Poetry in America | Classroom Resources

Poetry in America | Classroom Resources | Curriculum resource reviews | Scoop.it
Edward Hirsch's poem "Fast Break" captures a single slow-motion play on a basketball court. In this video excerpted from Poetry in America, join Hirsch, host Elisa New, NBA players Shaquille O'Neal, Pau Gasol, and Shane Battier, and a group of pick-up basketball players as they use basketball to understand poetry—and poetry to better understand the game of basketball. Hirsch himself reveals how he shaped his couplets to represent offense and defense, teamwork and rivalry, enduring friendship and human mortality. Shaquille does the play by play, heading this episode's team of on-court interpreters who explore "Fast Break" as sport, art, and lens on human character. This resource is part of the Poetry in America Collection. Find out more at the series' website.
