Government Shutdown Will Hit Federal Workers, Poor Americans | The Nation

Government Shutdown Will Hit Federal Workers, Poor Americans | The Nation | Current events | Scoop.it
With the Senate and the House at an impasse, a partial government shutdown is likely to occur at midnight, which would cause about 800,000 of 2.1 million federal employees to be furloughed, with no guarantee of retroactive pay.
Natasha Frovarp's insight:

In this article it's talking about what kind of things are happening with the shutdown and who's being effected by it. In the article it says that "The economic impact of a shutdown depends on how long it lasts, but workers and the poor are likely to be hit the hardest. About 800,000 of 2.1 million federal employees will be furloughed, with no guarantee of retroactive pay. “Essential” employees like active-duty service members, scientists posted to the International Space Station, mine inspectors for the Department of Labor, and Secret Service agents will continue to work, many without pay. Also it says that for low income women and children may not be able to access food and health care that has to do with (WIC).

Personally I think the government shut down makes zero sense and idk why it's happening but all I know is that it better get fixed because this gal needs a passport for spring break.
