Brazil is building a cable across the Atlantic to escape the reach of the US National Security Agency. The 3,500-mile fibre optic cable will stretch from Fortzalea to Portugal with an estimated cost of $185 million.

Victorians have been treated to what appears to be a rare cloud formation known as a Fallstreak Hole.
Courtney Watkins's insight:

A rare cloud formation was formed around the Gippsland area in Victoria, around 1pm. This type of cloud formation is known as a fallstreak hole or a punch cloud and occurs when part of a cloud's water droplets freeze into ice crystals and fall below the cloud layer.
