#thelittlebookofprison - a beginners guide to #prison

#thelittlebookofprison - a beginners guide to #prison | Cultures of crime | Scoop.it

This is the blog for Frankie Owens and his comic book about surviving in prison.  It's due to be published early next year, but has already won a Koestler Trust platinum prize.  The Trust's Chief, Tim Roberston has heaped praise on it, saying that it gives a great account of going into prison for the first time and left him 'wondering why we have prisons at all'.

This documentary talks about the roots and rise of crime fiction in Iceland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, and considers the impact of the political, cultural and social world has had on these works. What’s the connection between Scandinavian/Nordic exceptionalism and the fiction we read?

Ibiza: Britain's Balearic Soul #criminology | Cultures of crime | Scoop.it

This BBC Radio 4 programme by Kent University's Dr Kate O'Brien explores Ibiza's subtle influence over British youth culture and nightlife.  There are lots of discussions with DJs about the development of 'rave' culture, but also consideration of the criminal justice system's respose to this phenomena.
