How To Improve The Quality Of Sound From Your Mic - Tutorial for Second Life DJs or for simply using Voice

How To Improve The Quality Of Sound From Your Mic - Tutorial for Second Life DJs or for simply using Voice | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

Almost anyone who has been to a club in Second Life would have experienced a DJ or live performer who could hardly be heard on mic, or their mic quality was just generally poor. As this can be very off putting for listeners, this tutorial will offer a few tips on how to improve the quality of sound from a mic. So long as you have a reasonable mic (not necessarily a high quality one), this tutorial should have something useful for you. Although this tutorial is primarily aimed at Second Life DJs there is something here for anyone who uses a mic, including all online DJs, Skype users and anyone doing video voice overs.

Make a Postcard in Second Life - Tutorial

Make a Postcard in Second Life - Tutorial | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

Hello, readers! Today's post is a How To. Let's say you've just visited an astoundingly beautiful place in Second Life, and you want to tell your friends about it. You could, of course, just send them an IM. Open your Map, click "Copy SLURL to Clipboard" and then hit CTRL+V to paste the location in your IM window. But you have more class than that, right? Let's send them a postcard instead! First, you'll need to take a picture for your postcard. Here I am at the Iron Cloud sky platform in Caledon:

Second Life: Those Scripts You Wear, Which Are Pesky?

Second Life: Those Scripts You Wear, Which Are Pesky? | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it
I was reading a thread in the forum where the Opening Post (OP) was asking how to deal with scripts. They went somewhere and found out they were wearing too many scripts and were threatened with ejection. Been there done that… it’s been awhile.
Of course, there are the devices that will tell you your script weight. (Weight Scale – free) These generally provide an aggregate weight leaving you to try and figure out which scripts are heavy and lite. However, the viewer has features you can use to make life easier. In ABOUT LAND (FS: World->Parcel Details – LL: World->About Land) there is a button (bottom-left) labeled Script Info. That pens a panel with the tabs; REGION and AVATAR. (see image) You can see it lists the script weight for each scripted item you are wearing.

Recolouring photographs using Gimp - part 2 - Kolorier mir – Farbwechsel mit Gimp Teil 2

Recolouring photographs using Gimp - part 2 - Kolorier mir – Farbwechsel mit Gimp Teil 2 | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

Taking  360-Degree Pictures in Second life - Tutorial | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

AVsitter Going Open Source

AVsitter Going Open Source | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it
f you don’t know, AVsitter is a tool for building and controlling animations in things, furniture mostly. It serves for simple to complex animation control. There are videos and various other tutorials on how to use both AVsitter1 and 2. (AVsitter2 on YouTube) These days most are AVsitter2™. There will be one final update of AVsitter1. Some support will continue. The AVsitter people have AVsitter2 as their retail product (L$2,999). You can find it in the marketplace here: AVsitter2. The in-world store is here: Coda. AVSitter2 has been around since 2014. It seems quite popular in Second Life™. I have no market data. So, I have no way to know ‘how’ popular. nPose is a similar tool. Both avoid the use of pose-balls. Both are reasonably easy to use. It looks like AVsitter2 requires fewer clicks.

HTML5 Advertising Banners in Second Life

HTML5 Advertising Banners in Second Life | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

If you have a club or plan to hold an event in Second Life, creating an in-world advertisement can be a major boost to getting people's attention. One eye catching possibility is to use animated images, and one of the smartest ways to do this is to use HTML5 advertising banners. HTML5 advertising banners work in Second Life as media on a prim which means they won't lag the land they are rezzed on. The images load smoothly and appear in good quality, and an added bonus is the ads can also be displayed on yours and friends' blogs, increasing your reach exponentially. If the ad is added on a website a link can be included, (hover your cursor over the ad to the right and you'll see the link address to the bottom of your browser). The image below shows two HTML5 adverts rezzed in the SL-Inspiration location in world, and although they can't show the animation, the advert in the sidebar here gives some idea of the quality.

How to use OBS Studio to Record or Live Stream Second Life

How to use OBS Studio to Record or Live Stream Second Life | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

In this tutorial I am going to cover OBS Studio, mainly because it is free, easy to setup and use. It is also available for Windows, Linux and OSX. You can use it to directly live stream to your channel or record a video and then use any editing software of your choice to edit that video and upload to your video platform. You can not edit video with this software. This is the software I now use to live stream to my YouTube channel and is what I used when I recently did my two live discussions: Live Social Media Discussion and Live Second Life Photography Discussion.

Across The Grid With Lindal Kidd!: I Bought $L But I Never Got Them - Second life tutorial

Across The Grid With Lindal Kidd!: I Bought $L But I Never Got Them - Second life tutorial | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it

We helper types are seeing this question appear more and more on the Second Life forums. So in today's post, I'll talk about the most common reasons for this. There are three of them. If you are buying $L for the first time, you have to first register a "payment method" with Linden Lab. LL will accept most major credit cards, or a "verified" PayPal or Skrill account. They will NOT accept prepaid credit cards, debit cards, or gift cards. "Verified" means that your PayPal or Skrill account has been backed up by linking it to either a major credit card or a Real Life bank account. The procedures for doing this can be found on the PayPal or Skrill web sites. The process will take a few business days. There's one point to keep in mind here. If you use a bank account, you must be careful to keep enough money actually in the PayPal or Skrill account to pay your Second Life bills. Linden Lab won't wait several days for money to be transferred from your bank account, to PayPal, to them. They insist on instant payment, and if they don't get it, the transaction will simply fail. The Novice Computer Upgrade Series: Memory | Nalates' Things & StuffNalates’ Things & Stuff

The Novice Computer Upgrade Series: Memory | Nalates' Things & StuffNalates’ Things & Stuff | Second Life - Guides - Tutorials | Scoop.it
Regular readers will know I am in the process of building a new computer capable of handling VR, Sansar, Obduction (from the makers of Myst), and Second Life. I mostly deal with web tech and repair or upgrade of old computers. I do a lot of repair and upgrading of Core2 vintage machines. So, when I decided to upgrade I started looking for what is best, fast, and cheap. In the process I realized I haven’t been keeping up with the tech. Helping people in the SL Forum I realize there are a lot of people also unaware of the changes in tech. A lot of bad advice is handed out in the forum. So, I am starting a series of articles on the current state of computer technology. Starting with a tutorial on computer memory.
