Virtual History Roma makes use of bubble technology to provide a 3D, panoramic exploration of one of the greatest ancient
civilizations of history on the iPad.
Incorporating
unique aspects of the iPad’s technology, the app provides an interactive
detailing of life in ancient Rome. The iPad’s accelerometer and compass give three-dimensional views of important Roman buildings, soldiers, and weapons.
The bubble technology is used to provide a panoramic look through Ancient Rome and
various settings within the empire. The swipe technology allows users to see the progression of events, such as the building of the Roman Colosseum.
Lauren Hoefs's insight:

I actually came across this app during an Ipad info session undertaken during my B.Ed degree.  As I hold a minor in Classical Civilizations from my BA degree, experiencing Rome in this 3D panoramic way really captured my imagination, bringing my learning experience to life.  It also allowed me the opportunity to continue in building my cultural understanding of this great civilization.
