Are athletes really getting faster, better, stronger?

Are athletes really getting faster, better, stronger? | Critical Thinking in Physical Education | Scoop.it
When you look at sporting achievements over the last decades, it seems like humans have gotten faster, better and stronger in nearly every way. Yet as David Epstein points out in this delightfully counter-intuitive talk, we might want to lay off the self-congratulation. Many factors are at play in shattering athletic records, and the development of our natural talents is just one of them.

A Quick Guide to 21st Century Critical Thinking Skills for Educators | Critical Thinking in Physical Education | Scoop.it

Critical thinking skills are what we want our students to develop. Without these skills we can not guarantee a sound and effective education that will enable our kids to seamlessly blend in tomorrow 's job market. Therefore, it is our responsibility as teachers and educators to fully understand the components of this set of skills in order to better focus on them in our instruction

I had a problem with the "synthesis" skills. Shouldn't it suggest example questions like "in what ways is person A similar to person B? How does report a, b, and c inform your ____ practices in the future?" Things like that.

14 Bloom's Taxonomy Posters For Teachers

14 Bloom's Taxonomy Posters For Teachers | Critical Thinking in Physical Education | Scoop.it

Bloom’s Taxonomy is a useful tool for assessment design, but using it only for that function is like using a race car to go to the grocery–a huge waste of potential.

In an upcoming post we’re going to look at better use of Bloom’s taxonomy in the classroom, but during research for that post it became interesting how many variations there are of the original work. While a handful of the charts below only show aesthetic changes compared to others, most are concept maps of sorts–with graphic design that signifies extended function (power verbs), detail (clear explanations), or features of some sort (Bloom’s Taxonomy tasks by level).

What Does Critical Thinking Mean in Education ?

What Does Critical Thinking Mean in Education ? | Critical Thinking in Physical Education | Scoop.it

Critical thinking is an important skill in the  21st century learning. Education's overall goal is to produce students that will be able to think critically and not just take in things like a parrot. Of course there is a bunch of other important skills out there but this particular one stands out from the crowd. The thing about ttis skill is that while almost all  teachers agree upon its priority in education only few really know what it really means
