This is a brilliant article on networking with your peers--other designers, photographers, ilustrators, etc.

It gives good examples of how to break through the "my competition, my enemy" perspective.

Not sure how this would fly locally in my market, but I'm would definitely like to test it out.

This is a great, short article outlining how best to put together your portfolio.

I need this info, Desperately!

I'm redeveloping my company's site and the hardest part isn't what to say or show... The really hard part is what NOT to show and what NOT to say.  I've done a couple of thousand design projects and 10s of thousands of photos, dozens of videos, etc. etc.

The hardest part is distilling it down to what's truly good vs what I *think* is good.

Everything we do and say is story. All standard story structures ask the question 'who am I?' and try to make the answer interesting - or we stop caring. The rules here contain some great visuals and a lot of thought-provoking ideas. Go be provoked.

For me there's nothing quite like a well designed, quality printed piece.

Don't get me wrong, the web is a great medium, but print--it's got permanence. Well designed, and high quality printed items have a their own gravity (for lack of a better word-- note I didn't use the word 'gravitas'. If we were having lunch and I used that term, you would have full right to slap me).

I just came across OpalPrint.co.uk and I like their work so much it hurts my face.

Their site is gracefully and elegant, but my god their work dropped my jaw.

I'm in the process of redesigning my design business' website [again] and I've found this post helpful.

Funny, it seems like I've been redesigning my website since 2005.

I often use the term the cobbler's kids have no shoes, but by now the cobbler's kids are teenagers and they're walking on stumps of what used to be bare feet.

If you're redeveloping your site, let me know, maybe I could help you, you could help me and we'll both save ourselves from losing our minds.

How to be a Better Designer

How to be a Better Designer | Creative inspirations | Scoop.it
The job of a designer isn’t an easy one. You must assess unfamiliar situations, achieve insight, and use what you’ve learned to synthesize design solutions. Additionally, you must lead clients through a process that might seem foreign to them.

This guy nails it!

"...designers aren’t supposed to be the star of the show. They are backstage workers whose presence should go unknown in the work they produce. Your politics, voice, and creative tendencies all have to take a backseat to your client’s needs."

Shahana Zubair's curator insight, November 24, 2013 11:33 PM

Every day we designers meet new clients which brings along new challenges , I think a designer should be so flexible in his/ or her way of designing what we should keep in mind is the clients satisfaction if the clients is satisfied  We are satisfied too we can't impose our own ideas on people we are facilitators and we facilitate people for their needs.

Tyler Richendollar's curator insight, February 8, 2014 8:22 PM
