That testimonials should be taken with a grain of salt is obvious to me, but that might be because part of my job is to find out the truth about products and services and you rarely find the whole truth on a promotional website. Forums can be just as bad, though, because  people often only take the time to write in a forum if they are angry about something.

The “trending topics” section on Twitter has always been a fascinating example of virality to me. Sometimes, you get the weirdest combination of stuff (Pandora, women, and Christmas?

From my own recent blogs, I'd say they were. Easy to get fixated on keywords of any kind, though, and forget the purpose of writing is to inform. Choosing a trending topic just because it's trending, I think, will backfire because of the competition.
