What is Corporate Strategy, anyway?

“Using the language from the great book Playing to Win, How Strategy Really Works by A.G. Lafley and Roger Martin, corporate strategy is about Where to Play, whereas business strategy deals with How to Win. Corporate strategy concerns about the scope of a firm, what industry to enter, and what not. When a firm only has one product, operating in one industry, this is not an issue. Once the firm acquires more businesses from different industries, the need for a corporate strategy arises.”
