Last but not least in preparation for the first Pan European Football Championship of the season we get around to discussing the host club and first gaelic athletic club in Denmark "COPENHAGEN". A club that is a long time formed in European GAA and has performed very well both in Scandanavian championships but also in Pan European Championships winning three Shield titles from 2008-2010. It is a real luxury sometimes for a club to have a home tournament as you can see what the club is really like there on the ground when the commitment and financial sacrifice of travelling to a tournament is no longer needed. The Copenhagen Men will be aiming to get maximum turnout for their home tournament and really rattle a few cages on home soil. I expect a hugley competitive shield tournament with close results, hard-hitting, extreme intensity and a real will to win from all the players on show. This is a marquee event for all of the Shield players to see what they can do and show it off for all to see.

The Copenhagen Ladies team will be making a strong assault on the Ladies championship at their home tournament and they will be wanting to keep the title within the Scandanordic region. A team comprised of hardly any Irish girls they are a skillful, organised and committed team all round. They wil relish all the teams coming to their back yard and trying to take their title away from them. The Ladies Championship is building up nicely with all the little sub plots taking hold such as the "Belgium drive for five", the "revenge on Paris" for their success in Camogie, "who is the best ladies team in Sweden" and so on. The main plot will be who comes out on top and claims the spoils and can take or keep the silverware for their club. All roads lead to Copenhagen and it should be one hell of a weekend for European GAA.

Held og lykke til alle de danske hold!

Luxembourg Gaa | Facebook

Luxembourg Gaa | Facebook | Copenhagen Pan European Football Build Up Country by Country | Scoop.it

Luxembourg GAA since 1978 has encapsulated exactly what GAA in Europe is all about. The club has had a very significant year winning the Amateur Sports grant from ING Bank, club members cycling from Luxembourg to London for Charity and last but not least club member Nicola Mc Evoy becoming the 2012 Rose of Tralee representing Luxembourg.

The Luxembourg Mens team will be making a solid assault on the Mens Championship for the 2012 season having had a very strong Benelux regional season which saw them claim victory in one tournament and have a very consistent showing throughout the rest of the tournaments. The lads will have some stiff competition in the Mens Championship but the Lux Lads will relsih the challenge and no doubt take it all in their stride. A fiercely proud club with arguably the proudest and longest lasting tradition in European GAA hopefully the can show the newer and younger clubs their place and fight for silverware and glory in Copenhagen.

Bonne chance à l'équipe de Luxembourg!

Viel Glück in Luxemburg Team!

The Guernsey Gaels GAA club have a history that most clubs in Europe would really love to have as they were involved from the very beginning and they share the unique and sometimes disasterous identity of not quite being in France and not quite being in Britain. Once thing is for sure the Gaels can play football and to a very high standard. This season Guernsey were upset to the Frech Championship losing to their close rivals and neighbours Jersey so no doubt revenge will be on the cards in Copenhagen. Guernsey Gaels are the defending European GAA champions from the 2011 season and no doubt they will be aiming to reclaim their title and no doubt serve a blow to some of their main rivals for the championship crown. Well the whole action gets under way in Copenhagen and the Gaels will be aiming for a strong and successful 2012 Championship season.

The Guernsey Shield team will be an amalgamtion between Jersey and their biggest rivals Guernsey no doubt this team will be highly motivated and fired up to bring back some silverware to the Channel Islands. No doubting they have the footballers but will they have the Chemsitry and bonding needed to stay strong in the face of adversity. Watch for these lads to be right in the mix at the end.Best of luck to the Gaels!!!

Belgium GAA the largest club in European Gaa and the first team to have put five teams playing in three competitions over one tournament weekend. Belgium recently played a current All Star team against their Legends All Star team there are not too many clubs in Europe would have the history or membership to do something like this. Belgium GAA will be represented in all three weekend competitions in Copenhagen. Belgium GAA probably one of Europe's most competitive teams will also be going for victory or silverware in all competitions also.

Belgium Ladies are going for the coveted "drive for five" five in a row European GAA Ladies Championships this year and such has been the commitment and dedication of their Ladies over the last few years it will take something special to stop them from achieving their goal. A stellar regional season as always for the Belgiumettes and hopefully they can start the Pan European season off the way that they want in a manner they have become accustomed to by claiming the victory.

The Belgium Mens Championship team long established in the European Mens Championship will have great confidence going into this Pan European season. Narrowly edged out by Amsterdam in the Benelux Mens Championship the lads will fancy their chances and are always capable of big scalp and a consistent run of games on the day who knows what might happen. No strangers to winning they will be aiming high for this Pan European season.

The Belgium Shield Championship team had a strong regional season but would hope that they can really produce and bring their patchy Shield form together for this Pan European season. Belgium's Mens Shield team played arguably the most exciting, thrilling and enthralling football game in the history of European GAA last year in Limerick at the European Finals coming out on top with a "golden point" against Amsterdam. The Shield lads will be hoping for more of the same as they attack this 2012 Pan European Season.

Veel succes aan alle Belgische teams!

Bonne chance à toutes les équipes belges!

Viel Glück an alle die belgischen Teams!

Norway is no stranger to GAA activities in the past having had development projects in Bergen and Stavanger but in 2012 the Oslo club has really launched themselves on the scene in the best way. The Oslo club had a very successful Scandanordic regional season for 2012 they really committed to giving Stockholm all they could handle and more. The "Get your Kit On" campaign gave the club and their "Bee for Battens" charity some much needed publicity and attention. The club was featured on TV3 and all the Irish newspapers and we believe them to be the first ever GAA club to feature a charity on their jersey. The Oslo amalgamation will put regional rivalries aside and will attempt to keep the silverware within the Scandanordic region. The Oslo club are very committed to develop our games and the club within Norway and we wish them every success in the future.Lykke til alle Oslo-teamet!

Amsterdam GAA Club, Gaelic Games, Football, Hurling and Camogie in The Netherlands - Welcome

Amsterdam GAA Club, Gaelic Games, Football, Hurling and Camogie in The Netherlands - Welcome | Copenhagen Pan European Football Build Up Country by Country | Scoop.it

The Netherlands currently going through a very strong and sustained period of competition in European GAA has gone from strength to strength in the past season. We all know about the double success of the Amsterdam Mens Football Championship and Shield Benelux winners as well as the Den Haag hurlers claiming the European Hurling crown and the continued successes of the Holland Ladies in both Camogie and Ladies football. Also the return of a Maastricht team for the final Benelux regional tournament hopfully bodes well for the future.

The Holland Ladies in the Ladies Championship will be aiming to represent themselves on the European stage at the highest level with the intention of shaking a few things up. They are there for more than just to make up the numbers knowing a few of their club members the fire, passion, commitment and desire there is plain for all to see. Hopefully they will be wearing their new Dutch orange kit that will grab some attention but no doubt their football on the field could be the thing grabbing all the headlines.

The Den Haag Championship Mens team will be like a wounded animal they lost their Pan European crown to Guernsey last November in Limerick, they lost their Benelux crown this year to Amsterdam they are sick of lsoing and if their performance this season in the hurling championship is anything to go by watch out. You do not win lots of Hurling and Football Championships without overcoming adversity and the character and resolve of the Den Haag players should shine out this tournament and throughout this Pan European season. Expect a big backlast from the Hague lads.

The Amsterdam Mens Championship team for 2012 team is comprised of a good few members of their 2011 Shield winning team and also the 2012 Benelux Championship and Shield winners from 2012. Winning is a contagious feeling once you get the taste you want more. The Amsterdam club now in their 10th year have a bandwagon of success rolling and they wish to add to it. They will not be phased by the old rivalries of the Benelux teams, the challenge from the Channel Islands will not phase them and then Stockholm should be a good test. Amsterdam will be making to make some history and bring hurt onto the other championship teams for this 2012 European football season.

Veel succes aan alle Nederlandse teams!

The Jersey Irish GAA club will be aiming to follow on from their French Championship success from earlier in the year by adding Pan European glory to their trophy cabinet. If they can achieve this by beating their old friends Guernsey in the Championship and helping the Guernsey lads in the Shield with their amalgamation team then all the better. European GAA is a funny old thing sometimes your biggest enemy is your biggest friend.  Jersey very much like Guernsey are fiercely committed in every way possible to European GAA sometimes taking two or three flghts to leave the Channel Islands and this sacrifice is noticed and respected throughout Europe. Roll on Copenhagen and lets see what these lads can do.

Best of luck to the Jersey Irish GAA in Copenhagen!

French GAA the strongest, most developed and most diverse Gaelic football country in European GAA. French GAA will be represented in Copenhagen at the Pan European tournament by the clubs of Lyon and and Paris Shield Men and Paris Championship Ladies.

Paris Ladies GAA is currenly riding the crest of a wave in this 2012 season having already secured victory in the European Camogie championship and will be aiming to make it a habit with the first Pan European Ladies Championship. The Paris Gaelettes are a formidible force of fitness, commitment, skill and dedication and will be aiming to take a few big scalps in this Pan European Ladies season.

Paris Gaels Mens Shield team will be aiming to keep the tradition of Paris' strong and competitive participation in European GAA competition since 1994 alive. No doubt the Mens Shield team will have their homework done having already won the French mainland championship this 2012 season. Look out for their skill, flair, hard work, commitment and overall determination to give a good account of themselves at the Pan Europeans 2012.

The Lyon Lugdunum club will also be taking part in the Mens Shield Competition in Copenhagen after having a strong regional championship season finishing secong behind the strong Paris Gaels team. The lyon team were in Limerick last year and have been very committed to European tournaments in the past. A developing outfit that will give any team a good game on the day it could click and they could challenge any of the otehr teams in the Shield. A very progressive club and one to watch out for.

Bonne chance à toutes les équipes françaises!

German GAA is going through a real period of development recently with established clubs Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Munich and development projects in Cologne, Dresden, Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen.

At the Copenhagen tournament German GAA will be represented by the Dusseldorf and Frankfurt amalgamation in the Shield Competition and in Ladies Football by the Munich Ladies. The Frankfurt Sarsfields team have been very consistent in the past few years between their participation in the Benelux Shield Championship and also by their consistent attendance at the Pan European Football Competitions. The Dusseldorf team in its rebirth have come on strong this year through the Benelux Shield Championship having won the Maastricht regional earlier in the year. Both teams will aim to be competitive and set their stall out to be very hard to beat and do Deutschland proud.

The Munich Ladies have a very strong non Irish representation which is great to see for Ladies football and is an illustration of the hard work and commitment that went into setting up the club, recruitment, training and sacrifice of time, money and effort over a consistent period of time. The Munich Ladies had a strong regional season coming joint first with Warsaw each beating each other once in both regional finals so they finished level on 45 points. The Munich Ladies will be aiming to bring some silverware home to Bavaria by taking on the established teams of Ladies European Football. Watch out for the Munich Ladies.Viel Glück an alle die deutschen Teams!

The Swedish clubs of Malmo, Gothenburg and Stockholm will be competing in all three levels of competition in Copenhagen at the Pan European in their home of the Scandanordic region. Stockholm Gaels three in a row time Scandanordic Mens Champions aim to contine to continue their recent successes with a strong assault at the Mens Championship. The victorious Stockholm Gaelettes from the Scandanordic Ladies Championship also aim to have a strong year in the Ladies Championship and show their development to compete at the highest level.

The Gothenburg Mens team will amalgamate with their regional rivals Oslo for the Shield Competition in an attempt to win some silverware. The Gothenburg Ladies with a very strong non Irish contingent also aim to showcase their Ladies development project by launching a ferocious attack on the Ladies championship.

The Malmo team also launch themselves into two competitions with the men taking the Shield competition by the horns and the Ladies making a run for the Ladies Championship. Strong showings all year from this club lets hope they give Copenhagen a real lash!
