One Simple Tactic That Can Give You an Unfair Advantage in Local Search | Content Strategy |Brand Development |Organic SEO | Scoop.it

I am hosting a couple workshops in Kansas City in June. Since this is for me a rare local play I wanted to see what could do to get some local search results. So, here’s what I did.

I created a very brief video recorded directly to YouTube.
I even did a little bit of editing using the new YouTube Tools
I named the video Kansas City Marketing Workshop and Training
I added a description with this term
I added keywords that related to the term
I saved the video
I embedded the video on a page on my site.
I pointed to the video on YouTube from my Facebook page

Search & Social Media Optimization - Mechanical or Meaningful? | Content Strategy |Brand Development |Organic SEO | Scoop.it
While I've been to Belgium the past week for the fine Fusion Marketing Experience, I decided to take a day trip to Paris yesterday since it was only 2 hours...

In the way that there’s more to Paris, London and the city where you live than seeing a few tourist spots, there’s more to your online marketing than measuring KPIs. They can indicate progress, but they are not the end goal when it comes to customer acquisition and engagement (the business my agency TopRank Online Marketing) is in.

The Penguin update or Google’s webspam algorithm update, which was launched last April 24, did create massive impact to many online marketers and webmasters’ mindsets on how they should be performing search engine optimization from now on.

So how will you know if you’ve been hit by this update? There are a few things that you can do to see if this update has burned your site:

** If you’ve experienced sudden loss or meltdown in search traffic (especially if there’s a dramatically decrease in your top keywords’ rankings) on and after April 24, 2012.
** If your site is not ranking for its brand name on Google’s search results.

Ranking, Traffic and Conversions without Investment?

Ranking, Traffic and Conversions without Investment? | Content Strategy |Brand Development |Organic SEO | Scoop.it
Let’s face it. There are plenty of things you can do to rank, and rank well, in the search engines. Some are legit, some are not so legit, some are straight up illegal, but they’re out there.

Is Your Online Marketing Budget Realistic?

Why is it that most companies can see the benefit of, say, word of mouth marketing as it applies in the physical world, but can’t see the benefit of WOMM online through social? Why is it fully acceptable to spend thousands of dollars on color brochures, direct mail marketing and so on, but a little bit of online content makes them balk? What is the defining characteristics of “worthwhile expenditures” when it comes to marketing your business?

Google+ Promotion May Improve Organic Search Ranking Infographic

Google+ Promotion May Improve Organic Search Ranking Infographic | Content Strategy |Brand Development |Organic SEO | Scoop.it

To see if you can really drive up an organic search engine ranking using some social media sites you may have heard of, TastyPlacement created about as controlled of an experiment as you could do within the vast petri dish that is the internet.

As it turns out, collecting Google+ followers seems to be the best way to push a site’s ranking up by as much as 14.63%. Facebook and Twitter showed signs of improving organic search results but not nearly to the degree of promoting via Google+ followers (canvasing for +1s on Google+ resulted in a slightly lesser push in search ranking, but still wasn’t too bad). The only promotional strategy that didn’t seem to improve a site’s ranking was by recruiting Twitter followers.
