The Top 10 Qualities of High-Quality List Posts

The Top 10 Qualities of High-Quality List Posts | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

...not all list posts have to suck! While there are definitely some pretty awful ones out there, you can also find quite a few very valuable, high-quality list posts floating around the internet. So let's not judge a list post by its title. I'm a firm believer that the list post does have a place in the world of high quality blog content.

And to no surprise, this post about lists posts is largely a list post itself. You can be the judge of its quality, but I stand by my beliefs.First, let's talk a little bit about common misconceptions about list posts. Then we'll dive into the characteristics of high quality ones so you can start squashing the myth that all list posts are subpar ... by writing awesome ones!...

The Use of Hashtags in Your Crisis Communications - By Melissa Agnes

The Use of Hashtags in Your Crisis Communications - By Melissa Agnes | Content Marketing | Scoop.it
Twitter plays an essential role within your crisis management. The use of a crisis hashtag is one of the most important parts of your crisis communications.

One of my favorite crisis bloggers, Kim Stephens, recently published an interesting summary of two reports by Project Hazards Emergency Response and Online Informal Communication (HEROIC), on their research around the use of Twitter by officials in the Boston Marathon Bombings. There are many aspects of these reports that are very interesting, but the thing that struck me the most was the inconsistency of hashtag use, across the board, during the week of events that followed the Marathon Bombings....

Future of Brand Journalism: Cute Cats or Catastrophe? | The PR Coach | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

The noise around brand journalism these days is deafening. Unfortunately, a lot of it is based on poor practices or wrong information.  We need to toss the marketing and get back to creating great content.

As in irresistible content. Content that shares real news, tells stories, solves problems, informs, educates and connects with consumers.

You know. Kind of rhymes with journalism?...

3 Keys That Open The Door To Massive Social Sharing Of Your Content | Content Marketing | Scoop.it
Content is the foundation of smart online marketing, but social media sharing of that content is the catalyst to success. It’s the publicity engine that helps you build your audience and attract the links that get you ranked well in search engines.
Jon Greer's insight:

Yeah, but the example is Upworthy, which is building its audience with provocative social posts, not business info. Try getting massive social sharing about your concrete business. Now THAT's a content marketing article I'd be happy to share.

37 data points that prove video content is king

Bill Gates, in 1996, predicted ”content is king,” Bill said content would revolutionize the internet because it “allows material to be duplicated at a low cost, no matter the size of the audience. When it comes to an interactive network such as the internet, the definition of ‘content’ becomes very wide.” Michael Eisner, in 1994, said businesses have to “reinvent themselves every seven years, as businesses mature and situations change.” These two statements make me believe, today, as Bill’s prediction still continues to come true, it has “matured” to be “Video content is king.” Here are 37 reasons why.

The Three Things To Kill In Your Media Interviews | Mr. Media Training

The Three Things To Kill In Your Media Interviews | Mr. Media Training | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

People will forget much of what you say during an interview. So be careful not to do these three things - or your audiences might remember even less.

...The “U” in CUBE A demands that your messages remain unburdened by three things: wordiness, jargon, and abstractions. The more a message tries to say—and the more abstractly it tries to say it—the less likely it is to be memorable. As a general guide, aim for messages that: have no more than two commas; contain no more than 30 words; and evoke concrete images....

Big Data & Public Relations | SmartData Collective

Big Data & Public Relations | SmartData Collective | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

According to Wikipedia, Public Relations is the practice of managing the spread of information between an individual or an organization and the public. As all of that information is data, it can be analysed and used to improve the PR activities performed by organizations. Enter the world of big data, and that information can be turned into valuable insights.

As I have mentioned earlier, big data will affect any industry and any department within any organisation. Especially those departments that deal with (potential) customers will be affected because thanks to big data technologies, it becomes possible to get to know each of your customers, suppliers or influencers as if he or she were your best friend. Public Relations is all about getting the stakeholders to maintain a certain point of view about the organisation. With big data it is possible to understand what that point of view was, how it changes over time, what it takes to improve it and what the effects are of the PR activities done
