3 Reasons Content Curation is Important to Marketing | 60 Second Marketer @AskJamieTurner

3 Reasons Content Curation is Important to Marketing | 60 Second Marketer @AskJamieTurner | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

Done right, content curation will become the easiest, yet most effective tool your marketing department will use. In fact, 90% of businesses agree. Of every 10 B2B marketers surveyed in a study by Curata, 9 used content marketing as a regular component of their strategy. 32% of business to business marketers did so daily.

As a marketer, you’ve heard it before: you’ve got to build your personal brand. Self-proclaimed gurus have been shouting it from the rooftops for over a decade now, and the catchphrase has even become a bit stale. But tired as the declaration may be, there’s a lot of truth behind it.

Consumers are becoming increasingly connected. And while social media can never replace good, old-fashioned market research, Twitter and LinkedIn are putting up a good fight.

So what are you, as a marketer, meant to do? Should you spend your working hours creating the original, creative content the gurus demand? Should you build your “personal brand” by responding to Facebook comments all day? No. Instead, you should establish a healthy social media presence, and share, share, share....

Content Strategist Success Story: 6 Keys to a Great Content Strategy

Content Strategist Success Story: 6 Keys to a Great Content Strategy | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

We’ve managed to outrank competitors in Google that have $9+ million in outside funding with our little self-funded, 40-person content creation agency, by an immense 3 percent. We rank organically for more than 11,000 key terms, with organic search visibility worth $57,000+ monthly.

And we haven’t paid a penny in ads — across six years — to gain the majority of our leads and clientele. They’ve come straight from these rankings.

How well do they convert? Very well.

After optimizing my strategy and increasing my content investment, we had the best sales month we’ve ever had and now my agency is on track to break our first seven figure year.

99 percent of our leads come through organic content marketing. I’ve never invested a single dollar in PPC....

The Types of Twitter Images Marketers Love the Most

The Types of Twitter Images Marketers Love the Most | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

The stats don’t lie – if you want to share better tweets, you need to think visually.

Images score your tweets more clicks, favorites, and retweets, so it’s no surprise that 55% of all tweets sent by brands include them.

But just like you get writer’s block when you’re trying to outline your next blog post, you might get creatively blocked when you’re trying to think of an image to attach to a tweet.

Everybody gets a little stuck sometimes. Not sure what kind of visual would go best with your next tweet? One of these classics is sure to do the trick....

Using these mega popular types of images on Twitter? You should be! Check out these examples from the pros and our favorite resources for making your own.

donhornsby's curator insight, May 4, 2017 9:34 AM
Twitter is literally made for sharing soundbite-sized thoughts, making it just about the perfect venue for quotes. They’re super-shareable, which can help you reach tons of new fans in a short period of time, and since they so rarely become outdated, you can put together a list in one sitting and then share them in a trickle over time. Putting your quote of choice on an image makes it more noticeable (and, statistically, more shareable), it gives you the freedom of not adhering to the 140-character rule, and it allows you to add your own commentary. The image doesn’t even have to be particularly bold – all you really need is an attractive typeface, and you’re done.

How to Build a Perfect Content Distribution Strategy

How to Build a Perfect Content Distribution Strategy | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

If content lives on the Internet but no one sees it, does it really exist? Aside from philosophical musings, the truth is that without a content distribution strategy, even the most creative, innovative, and groundbreaking content may never be discovered.

An effective content distribution strategy will not only put your content in front of your target audience. It’ll also help you build a relationship with them, and eventually lead them to take a desired action – watching your video, signing up for your newsletter, reading an article, or downloading a whitepaper.

Your strategy can include both paid and unpaid distribution channels. Each can work in conjunction with others, so pick and choose the channels that help you meet your business goals....

Campbell’s Taps Into Pinterest Data To Soup Up Its Content Strategy | AdExchanger | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

Consumer packaged goods brands like Campbell’s Soup are the epitome of content and commerce.

The company ladles up recipes and cooking tips through an online community, app and email newsletter called Campbell’s Kitchen. But socially distributed content increasingly is its main ingredient for success.

To boost content engagement across its owned-and-operated site and social channels, Campbell’s is beta testing a new tool called Muse developed by Pinterest marketing platform Ahalogy. Muse taps Facebook topic data through a partnership with DataSift and combines it with Ahalogy’s bank of category-level Pinterest data.

“Campbell’s Kitchen’s biggest audience is on Facebook right now, but Pinterest users tend to be younger and early adopters of new cooking methods,” said Sheila Miller, a senior manager for Campbell’s Kitchen.

In summary, there is no law that says your content must be a certain length in order to rank higher. A lot of content marketers spend a plenty of time creating content. And that’s good! But is length the only thing we should be targeting when we create this content? No. The data suggests that your content needs to have three characteristics: The content should be deep. The content should have comprehensive coverage. The content should be focused on the topic (keyword) you want to rank for. When you create content with those three characteristics, you might find yourself writing a 4,000-word article. Or it might be 1,000. Either way, it’s going to be good.

20 Instagram Landing Page Examples That Seal the Conversion

20 Instagram Landing Page Examples That Seal the Conversion | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

Instagram continues to move up the social media ladder. From a niche site for amateur photographers and a few filters to one of the top used image-sharing platforms, the advertising opportunities cannot be ignored by marketers looking to expand their audiences. And, as we continue to march toward an app-first online experience, mobile continues to outpace desktop in traffic.

Mobile-first sites such as Instagram will continue to reap the benefits, meaning your ads have greater potential — and create higher ROI if you combine ads with an Instagram landing page.

What is an Instagram landing page?

An Instagram landing page is a standalone web page that uses persuasive elements like testimonials, benefit-oriented copy, and videos to convince its visitors to convert on an offer. And, since Instagram is primarily used as an app on mobile devices, it is important to design a mobile-friendly page. Visitors land on the page after clicking a promotional link on Instagram....

Is Interactive Video the Next Big Thing? 3 Creative Examples from Brands

Is Interactive Video the Next Big Thing? 3 Creative Examples from Brands | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

Some fairly obvious characteristics have made video the web's most engaging media type when compared to text, images and combinations thereof. It's the perfect blend of audio and visual elements, drilled down into bite-sized chunks that appeal to the modern viewers' desire for immediate understanding.

But that's not to say it's quite the perfect storytelling device. It's close, but falls down in one simple area: when it comes to interacting with video content, users have only really been able to play, pause, rewind and fast-forward.

Interactive video changes that. In a nutshell, this emerging technology combines video content with user input -- allowing viewers to take a wide range of actions while watching video content.

They can click areas of the screen to define their own journey, answer questions, complete forms, buy products, download content and more -- often without leaving the player window....

Snapchat Receives Poor Grades From Marketers

Snapchat Receives Poor Grades From Marketers | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

It might be early days, but marketers are seeing little return when advertising on Snapchat. They also seem more interested in spending ad dollars on the company’s newfound rival: Instagram.

That’s according to a series of studies published by RBC Capital Markets in partnership with Ad Age, where some 1,600 marketers were surveyed in an attempt to gauge the pulse of the digital advertising industry. The sobering news underscores the uphill battle Snapchat faces as other platforms like Facebook-owned Instagram and Messenger mimic its features. It also shows Snapchat is a far cry from being in similar company to Google or Facebook, which both received significantly higher marks from marketers.

Between Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Yahoo, AOL, and YouTube, Snapchat only outperformed AOL in terms of ROI, scoring a 3.43 out of a possible 8 points, according to the survey (AOL scored a 2.88). Google (6.98) and Facebook (6.72) led the pack, performing nearly twice as better than Snapchat, RBC said....

According to the Content Marketing Institute (CMI), 76 percent of content marketers produced more content in 2016 than they did in 2015. That content stream will only increase in 2017.

This trend has been with us for years. According to an October 2016 TrackMaven blogging report:

48 Million Twitter Accounts Exposed as Bots | Content Marketing | Scoop.it

Data has never been more important to marketers, which is why it is always all the more alarming when it's suggested that a platform is delivering false analytics.

Approximately 15% of Twitter accounts — some 48 million — are bots rather than people, according to new research from the University of Southern California and Indiana University.
While the research is troubling news for Twitter, which has struggled to elevate its user base in the face of growing competition; it is perhaps more frustrating for marketers who trusted the engagement data.

The report elaborates on the percentage of bots, by stating that complex bots could have shown up as humans in their model, "making even the 15% figure a conservative estimate."
