Normally general contractors actualy own a construction company that they can use to complete the project they are hired for. This way they have less of a need to bring in sub contractors. Most of the time they will choose which feild they will work for. They can either head more toward commercail or they can stay private with residential buildings. Most tend to stick with just one side of it but some dip their fingers in both sides of the bussiness.
