Sixty percent of 12th graders do not view regular marijuana use as harmful

Sixty percent of 12th graders do not view regular marijuana use as harmful | Constitution | Scoop.it

"The percentage of high-schoolers who see great risk from being regular marijuana users has dropped dramatically in the past 10 years, according to this year’s Monitoring the Future (MTF) survey, which measures drug use and attitudes among the nation’s eighth-, 10th-, and 12th-graders. The change in attitudes is reflected in continued high rates of marijuana use in all three grades and could predict higher use in future years, based upon past MTF data (PDF - 204KB) showing an association between softening attitudes and increased use of marijuana."

Jack Sarff Jr.'s insight:

This is a good example that people use marijuana as a non harmful stress reliving drug. This relates to the debt in america that can be greatly decreased if it was legal for every purpose.

This should be of special concern given increasing evidence of abnormalities in the brains of heavy marijuana users--including abnormalities that persisted as long as two years after users discontinued smoking. Moreover, these abnormalities appear similar to schizophrenia-related brain abnormalities. See:

I wonder how many child-care providers will choose to join the union. I would suspect many wouldn't want to pay the dues. What would the union provide that would make it desirable to join?

A union for child care providers??

I agree with Kole and even without raising prices for daycare is expensive.

Either way, these kids are very stupid for even deciding to get behind the wheel after drinking AND smoking. Those two combinations add up to disaster, regardless of race.
MsHaeussinger's comment, May 13, 2013 7:53 AM
Its hard for us to say what really happened here. Local culture in the south can still be very deeply entrenched in the ideas of racism.
Christian Kerr's comment, May 13, 2013 10:06 AM
This is such a terrible crime to hear of. The fact that this man was driving drunk and high, and then decides to kill someone. How dumb can you be? And where were the police? What's the point of law enforcement if they aren't catching these criminals ?
