Project-Based Learning

Project-Based Learning | EDCI397 Newspaper! | Scoop.it
Discover how project-based learning teaches students to explore real-world problems and challenges. With this type of active and engaged learning, students are inspired to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying.
Erin Mallory's insight:

This is a very valuable link. It begins with a quick summary of what pbl is and what the goal of it is and contains a link to a more in-depth explanation. Then it moves down to videos and examples of pbl in action. A great resource for 1) ideas for future teachers and 2) proof that pbl is engaging of students and their lives.

Erin Mallory's insight:

Some images from a project done in the classroom. I found this relevant because my goal grade to teach is second or first grade and all the time we've been learning about PBL I have been hesitant to what projects these age students would be able and willing to complete without significant help. This instagram shows that there are ideas out there for all ages.

Why PBL? | Project Based Learning | BIE

Why PBL? | Project Based Learning | BIE | EDCI397 Newspaper! | Scoop.it
Erin Mallory's insight:

Where this link specifically takes you is to a pros list of pbl but there are more links on the side that give much more insight to pbl. This link is good enough for the newspaper because of how deep it goes into the details of pbl. Pretty much any question I have can be found on this site along with the ability to reach out to the people behind the site and get more insight as well. They are intent upon spreading pbl and its usefulness. I consider this website a goldmine of information and opportunities.

Taxonomy for teaching, learning and assessing. Project Based Learning in the 21st Century Classroom. Interesting
Erin Mallory's insight:

An image found on pinterest that breaks down the ideas behind project based learning and shows the benefits of pbl versus traditional instruction. The steps here expand upon what I was learning in another class as well and shows a simple diagram that visually allows you to see at first glance why pbl is better. Also comes with a link where you can go to a blog to see more information. Although this image is not super in-depth, still very useful in then analysis of pbl. Would also be a good thing to hang in a classroom so that when parents come in to visit they can quickly see the advantages and understand what your goals as the teacher are.

Learning Never Stops: 8 (free) websites to create cool student projects online

Learning Never Stops: 8 (free) websites to create cool student projects online | EDCI397 Newspaper! | Scoop.it
Erin Mallory's insight:

I found this link from a tweet from a Dr. Bruce Ellis under the pbl hashtag. This link is a good resource for any teacher who wants students to use technology in the classroom. It provides eight websites where teachers can get free access to programs that can help students. Personally I liked them because just seeing what the resources were gave me ideas for projects and then you could integrate these into them. Just a good resource that would impact students and teachers positively.
