Everyone thought that the led light was invented by 4 American resesarch groups.  But it wasnt it was created by Oleg Losev. In the mid 1920s he noticed that diodes used in radio receivers emitted light when current was passed through them. Then, in 1927, he published details in a Russian journal of the first ever LED.

Direction: LEDs release light in a specific direction, lowering the need for reflectors and diffusers that can trap light. This makes LEDs more efficient for many uses such as recessed downlights and task lighting. With other types of lighting, the light must be reflected to the desired direction and more than half of the light may never leave the fixture.Heat: LEDs emit very little heat. In comparison, incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat and CFLs release about 80% of their energy as heat

LED bulbs last longer and use less power than older ones, and with prices falling, a change makes even more sense.

LEDs last about 25 times as long as incandescents and three times as long as CFLs; Maybe 25,000 hours of light. Install one today, and you may not own your house, or even live, long enough to see it burn out.
