The pharoh Peppy could have been one key factor of the old kingdom falling but mainly i agree it was the drought. The drought was really an eye opener for the kingdom.

Esmeralda Garcia's curator insight, May 7, 2014 3:28 PM

The Nile river flood and that was causing problems for the old kingdom. They were going through a drought that caused them to have no crops or food.

Basically, pollen and charcoal from the ancient times was found preseved deep in the Nile.  This evidence was used to determine the amount of droughts and fires that occurred during the times of Ancient Egypt; which possibly had a participation in the fall of the old kingdom.

David Arrieta's curator insight, April 26, 2014 1:09 AM

Researchers have recently discovered from ancient pollen and charcoal that the ancient Egyptians had gone through dramatic weather changes and is ultimately the reason why this society fell.

This article is giving a general statement as to how the Roman Empire fell. There were actually many attributes to this societies demise, things such as corruption in the government, slave labor, and even christianity.

I enjoyed reading this article because it suggests a 15 reasons why the Roman Em[pre fell which I believe to be more realistic because there is never one single reason why.  There is always so,meting that lead to something that lead to something.

vanessa ortiz's curator insight, April 18, 2014 10:00 PM

This video talks about some theories on how the Harappa civilization fell.  Some theories suggest that the civilization was invaded, the civilization fell due to a flood, or that there was an earthquake that brought the Harappa civilization down.  What may have caused the collapse of the civilization is not for sure in this video.  However, after the fall of the Harappas the Aryans took over the land.  The Aryans recorded the way their society was divided into the different class systems.  These cast systems are still apart of Indian culture today.  I personally do not like their cast system because there is no way to move up or down in their social class system.

David Arrieta's curator insight, May 17, 2014 12:25 AM

In this video it briefly explains that the Harappan civilization fell due to climate change and earthquakes. It also explains how the Aryans ventured into India and established themselves as a society.

In this video it gives us a visual as to how the Harappan civilization fell. It started with the drought, and the draining of the river. Without the river farming began to decline, until farming became impossible to do. Which ultimately lead to famine and sickness.

Esmeralda Garcia's curator insight, May 7, 2014 5:29 PM

The rain stopped for 200 years rivers also stopped flowing and went underground  lakes and ponds dried up. which caused the Agrarian economy to collapse. These are some of the  things that led to the collapse of the harappan civilization.

Olivia Chavez-French's curator insight, May 14, 2014 2:11 PM

A video that delves into the theory that Harappa fell due to severe climate change.  This is fairly unique since most civilizations are conquered or something akin to that.

This Article is very interesting because it talks about how the drought was the major factor of the fall of the "Ancient Greece. The  information that the Brandon Lee Drake, an archaeologist at the University of New Mexico said was very credible and interesting. For example he said how cities from Greece and Mediterranean were declining at the same period of time when Egypt was being attacked by  marauding sea bandits.
