I'm not convinced we've seen the end of books, even some textbooks. And I'm not convinced we have to switch to digital simply because we haven't taught our students self-control or how to balance digital and non-digital resources. Dependence on anything isn't really healthy, including "digital dependence." Even so, for those who have technology and the infrastructure to use it, how much better to integrate it well and thoughtfully.

Certainly these are wonderful things to stop and consider.  It's not the tool...it's the learning.  And matching your learning intent with the proper tool is hugely important.

Law #1: It’s not the technology. It’s what you do with it.
Law #2: It’s not what the technology makes possible. It’s what technology makes easy.
Law #3: Pay attention to the trends in learning, not in technology.
