Cloud budgets are rising as IT confronts security and ROI challenges, according to the 2013 Cloud Computing Survey from IDG Enterprise (free download).

If nothing else this large survey highlights the slow and incremental nature organisations are moving towards the cloud. Also interesting to not the key financial justification for cloud projects is cost saving. No mention of revenue generation as a justification.

About 50 CIOs and senior IT executives of large companies gathered to discuss cloud computing. I attended a similar CIO summit six months ago, and what a difference six months makes. Back in October 2012, CIOs were just talking about cloud — they hadn’t really begun their cloud journey. At this summit, they were in implementation phase and looking for tools and best practices to help them navigate the complexities. Clearly companies have moved a notch forward in their cloud-computing journey
