Riding a skateboard has been a trendy activity for 5 decades, which started in the 1950s in California as an alternative to surfing when the sea was not surfable. The first skateboarding trend declined in the sixties but with the upcoming of urethane skateboard wheels in 1972, sympathy in skateboarding was revived. That was when the "Ollie" trick was created by Alan Gelfand and the nation experienced what tricks are possible on a skateboard. Gelfand has been enlisted to the Skateboard Hall of Fame in 2002 for his innovation.
