I first rolled out Moodle to a school in 2005. Since then, Moodle has admirably served the schools at which I have worked, providing a powerful, (cash) free, low-maintenance course web site system ...

Google Art Project

Google Art Project | nothingnerdy's webtools | Scoop.it

Yet another Google idea. There are many participating galleries with info about pictures and artists as well as photos where you can zoom in and in until you can study the cracks in the paint. There are also lectures and interviews with art experts: the one I heard was from Khan Academy and it was very good. I think there's also a sort of StreetView tour of galleries, but I couldn't find that here. Se Amit Sood talking about this idea at TED:

http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/amit_sood_building_a_museum_of_museums_on_the_web.html

They say:

Explore collections from around the world with thousands of artworks photographed in extremely high resolution. Also enables to create and share own collections of masterpieces.

MindMeister

MindMeister | nothingnerdy's webtools | Scoop.it
Free Online Mind Mapping and Brainstorming - available for Web, iPhone, iPad and Android...

Good for classroom brainstorming and outside as well because they can be embedded. Many uses for getting people thinking about a topic and dumping a lot of ideas fast. The free version is very limiting in the number of maps they allow you to have (so I have to delete old ones which leaves an ugly hole in the wiki where they were embedded) - if anyone knows of another site which gives more than three, let me know, please.

Upload & Share PowerPoint presentations and documents

Upload & Share PowerPoint presentations and documents | nothingnerdy's webtools | Scoop.it

A good place to put your presentations. It deals well with powerpoint and keynote, though not the funkier animations. From here you can embed the presentations elsewhere. Make sure the first slide is good-looking because that is what shows by default (you may have to disable the build for that one or it looks blank by default).

One account. Many devices. | Evernote Corporation | nothingnerdy's webtools | Scoop.it

It's one of those platforms that everyone uses differently and as a user you keep on getting new ideas about it. Clip pages, images, urls from the web; write notes in a meeting and they are there for you. I like tools that put everything in one place like this and then you use the Search function to get them back. It's not really a curating tool, just a searchable dump (in a nice way).

Easy Way to Print out Infographics and Posters ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | nothingnerdy's webtools | Scoop.it
Steve Weatherell's insight:

It's an easy way to print out infographics big, or make other posters. The serious limitation is if your file is greater than 1 MB it won't do it, which can be quite annoying because many IGs are bigger than that.
