Double jeopardy principle amended

Double jeopardy principle amended | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

If new evidence comes up for these two, they can be retrialed. I think they should have to pay, and I do not think there rights are threatened at all. If they did the crime, they should do the time.

Suspects who have been acquitted could face a retrial as a change to the double jeopardy rule comes into force in Scotland.

Judge finds probable cause in Skeens case | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

Analysis: A judge ruled that there is probable cause and a girl killed her father and son in a hit and run. The judge found enough info to charge her as guilty. This is relevant because the judge found enough information to charge her guilty, and as a probable cause.

ACLU: FBI Used Outreach to Collect Info on Muslims

ACLU: FBI Used Outreach to Collect Info on Muslims | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

Analysis: FBI cases have stated that betweetn 2007 and 2009 the FBI has background checks on Muslims. They have personal info on them, such as phone numbers, email addresses and personal descriptions, and in the file it is marked as 'routine'. I think this is unconstitutional because it is calling them out as muslims because the FBI thought they were suspicious because of past things that has happened.

Introduction

The past few weeks, we have been learning about the Amendments. The Amendements I chose are, the first, which protects the freedom of religion, speech, amd the press. Also, the second one, which protects the right to bear arms. Also, the fourth which prohibits unreasonably searches and seizures, and probable cause. And last, the 5th amendment which sets out rules for indictments by grand jury.

Double Jeopardy Tried Again

Double Jeopardy Tried Again | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

Scotish think that Double Jeopardy should be okay. So they are passing a law for people to get tried again, as in "Double Jeopardy." I think it should be passed because I don't think it's fair to not have double jeopardy. People can say no in court, than admit it two days later for doing the crime and they won't get in trouble at all.

The Scottish Government has announced changes to the double 'jeopardy rule' that will see those acquitted of crimes tried again in a broader range of circumstances.

Bank Robbery Suspect's Probable Cause Hearing Continued

Bank Robbery Suspect's Probable Cause Hearing Continued | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

Analysis: Timothy Burke was charger for robbing two banks. The judge is trying to find a probable cause. He is a suspect because of videos of him trying to make an attempt to rob the bank. This does not threaten his rights because there are videos, and witnesses who have seen him attempt to rob the bank. I do not think it is unconstituional because there is proof.

Timothy Burke of Portsmouth who is charged with robbing the People's United Bank on Islington Street twice was scheduled to appear in Portsmouth District Court this morning.

Comparison to Penn State is offensive to Catholics

Comparison to Penn State is offensive to Catholics | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

Analysis: Recently at Penn State Universtiy, there has been several sex- crimes, people have been comparing them to the Catholic Church. Catholics are finding this very offensive because people are blaming the church. I think their constitutional rights are being threatened because people are blaming the church and making the people of the church look bad, when the church had nothing to do with it.

Please do not compare the Penn State incident to the abuses of the Catholic Church. There are approximately 1.2 billion Catholics worldwide and thousands of priests, the vast majority of whom know and love God every day.

New hearing for ban on guns at Alameda fairgrounds

New hearing for ban on guns at Alameda fairgrounds | Civil rights project | Scoop.it

This article states that county of San Fransisco has banned guns on all property. Especially fairgrounds. In 1988, 16 people were injured because of guns. I agree that guns should be banned because they hurt innocent people and give the right for bad people to buy guns and hurt innocent people.

A federal appeals court will reconsider its ruling that set a tough hurdle for gun show promoters who seek to overturn the ban on firearms at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Ruling in a case that dates from 1999, a...

Plate: Let's lay down our right to bear arms - CNN.com

 Analysis;

Los Angeles citizens are against the right "Right to bear arms." They state that to many people are being killed due to the use of guns. More then likely the use of guns are used to solve problems. I think you should not be able to have guns unless there in your house and have a permit for it.
