Jemma Tanner's curator insight, October 28, 2013 10:38 AM

Racism. No Way! provides so many valuable resources to both teachers and students promoting anti-racism in schools. I particularly value the anti-racism activities as well as the e-challenges. I think that as a teacher of Humanities, having a good anti-racism resource is essential as you will encounter many issues on multiculturalism in all Australian classrooms. Teaching acceptance and tolerance of backgrounds, cultures and traditions is what Humanities is all about isn't it? We all learn about what each other have done in the past regardless of what race/gender/etc we were, so why should it change now? Giving students the right resources will encourage them to respect and be accepting of other cultures, and I think that these resources can be found on this website.

Companies like Microsoft, Google, TED, McDonalds, Starbucks, and over 50% of the Fortune 1000 use Poll Everywhere.

Jemma Tanner's curator insight, October 28, 2013 10:58 PM

I think this short video easily provides a quick overview of human rights and would be an engaging way to begin a lesson/the topic. Although it's only around 10 minutes long, I feel as though it covers the basic beginnings of human rights and and the ideas behind them. Human rights is such an important subject that it needs to be taught somewhere along the lines in a Humanities classroom because we all have them. I also think this video will gain student interest as it's intriguing and the graphics are exciting. I would probably use this video in upper primary classes.
