Historical Letter : )

The letter with 10 terms .

Monquisha's insight:

   Dear grandma,

I miss you a lot.Times like these get hard and I miss my family but most of all I miss you .Life as an actress is not what is use to be,I have many great experience and I would like to come visit you, because I have so much more time on my hands now that my career has took a different turn.I cant say that I really miss it a lot too, because  I already have live it.I started my acting career at the age of 3 I was born in 1928.As an American film and television actress. It all started with my role in Bright Eyes (1934).Which also became most popular in the 1930’s,later on I received a special juvenile Academy Award.Who would of thought a toddler could become into a successful actress today .Bigger and better things started to happen for me after that role lead to many and more things going on in my life.At the age of 12 years old popularity had dissipated, and I appeared in a few films until eventually I left the film industry for good at 22.

Child film star and a actress, and diplomat.I know was remember as a legendary child actress, and I appreciate it and well, why wouldn’t I be? I appeared in more than 50 short and feature film and developed a world wide following in the 1930’s.I remember my big break through performance was in 1934 a Stand up and Cheer .That year I hnad a totel of 8 films and earn a special award from the Academy of motion picture Arts and sciences “in grateful recognition. The film roles was ‘’Little Rebel ,Heidi(1937) Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.(1938)And The little princess(1939)During the time I was most popular and know  for my sweet-looking face as a kid and my honey brown curly hair with a adored cheery personality. I made a total of 11 films in 1933.A popular box office draw. Also I still think about john at times,if he was still alive and keeping me company ,how much I miss that man cant even be describe. I tried to revive my career in the late 1950’s but I wasn’t able to make a comeback.your granddaughters Lori and Charles misses you a lot, they ask when can they see their grandma or what was the cause to my career ending, but I simply sit them down and tell them both that I try to make a comeback Cost’s of goods and inflation was really something imporatint to think about but some good things don’t always last long .Crime of the 1930’s also had in was put into films and cinema movies for good use.Music of the 1930’s was real popular as well.Hardship &living was never something I went through.Literture during the 1930’s was something I took into consideration, yet I remember my grandma telling me about hoovervilles and the Bonus army and I never understood really.Til way back growing up ,still acting in roles.

Or u go through them and you have to keep living on in the past or u can move on to the future and keep enjoying the present, because no matter what that my career ending and I couldn’t make a comeback,The great depression will always be a memorable time as well. Many films I appeared in and play a lot of roles those things made me think and look back like I accomplish, something in life I really was somebody who made a difference in a way .But not only that I did something with my life and im grateful and  Hardship & living conditions was no more due to more acting jobs handed out during the 1930’s.enjoy every memory of it ,Localism &volunteerism.Franklin D.Roosevelt was the president and he was running the country with no doubt of doing his job as he wanted to .I hope your life is going well ,and your health is good ,I remember you always telling me if I wanted to be somebody or do something big with my life. Turn my dreams into reality and start doing something about it.We cant just keep on sitting around waiting for something to happen or dreams to come true.Take matters into your own hands and do somrthing about it.To push you in the right direction ,you want to be in ,In many cases not everyone is going to be here for you,you really have yourself in the end. So then when my career turn into a different direction I served as a diplomat.I ran for congress in the state of California as Republican in the 1960’s but was unsuccessful. She was appointed to represent  the United Stated to the United Nations in 1969.In later became a U.S ambassador to the African nation og Ghana. Also next to the U.S ambassador to Czechoslovakia frim 1989 to 1992.i also miss my hometown in Northern California,in 1988 I had shared my personal child story in child sta:An autobiographt.According to my website,I have a second volume of my autobiography is in the works.Known for juvenile film work. I am a republican women with big hopes for my kids to accomplish their dreams as well, as whatever they would like to do. Actress from the time year of 1932-1965.Most of my films I starred in were cheaply made at 200,00-300,000 per picture and were comedy-dramas with songs and dances added to them. Sentimental and melodramatic situations aplenty, and little in the way of production vales.i know African americans during the 1930’s went through a lot of pain and struggle and I didn’t had a bad life ,to worry about much.

Sincerely ,Shirley B.Temple <3

Vocabluary

Monquisha's insight:

cut
A visual transition created in editing in which one shot is instantaneously replaced on screen by another.

continuity editing
Editing that creates action that flows smoothly across shots and scenes without jarring visual inconsistencies. Establishes a sense of story for the viewer.

cross cutting
Cutting back and forth quickly between two or more lines of action, indicating they are happening simultaneously.

dissolve
A gradual scene transition. The editor overlaps the end of one shot with the beginning of the next one.

editing
The work of selecting and joining together shots to create a finished film.

errors of continuity
Disruptions in the flow of a scene, such as a failure to match action or the placement of props across shots.

establishing shot
A shot, normally taken from a great distance or from a "bird's eye view," that establishes where the action is about to occur.

eyeline match
The matching of eyelines between two or more characters. For example, if Sam looks to the right in shot A, Jean will look to the left in shot B. This establishes a relationship of proximity and continuity.

fade
A visual transition between shots or scenes that appears on screen as a brief interval with no picture. The editor fades one shot to black and then fades in the next. Often used to indicate a change in time and place.

final cut
The finished edit of a film, approved by the director and the producer. This is what the audience sees.

iris
Visible on screen as a circle closing down over or opening up on a shot. Seldom used in contemporary film, but common during the silent era of Hollywood films.

jump cut
A cut that creates a lack of continuity by leaving out parts of the action.

A movie theater (also called a cinema, movie house, film house, film theater or picture house) is a venue, usually a building, for viewing film.

Most but not all movie theaters are commercial operations catering to the general public, who attend by purchasing a ticket. The movie is projected with a movie projector onto a large projection screen at the front of the auditorium. Most movie theaters are now equipped for digital cinema projection, removing the need to create and transport a physical film print.

Outside of North America, English-speaking countries use the term cinema (pron.: /ˈsɪnɨmə/), alternatively spelled and pronounced "kinema" (/ˈkɪnɨmə/).[1][2][3] Both terms, as well as their derivative adjectives "cinematic" and "kinematic," ultimately derive from Greek κινῆμα, κινῆματος, (kinema, kinematos) "movement", "motion". In these areas the term "theatre" is usually restricted to live-performance venues.

Monquisha's insight:

A movie theater is basically the start of the cinema films starting and ever becoming a big importaint thing in thw 1930's.The other things is that a cinems, movie ,film movie or film theater or picture house is a venue ,usually a type of building or viewing of something. Most of all not all type od movie theaters are commercial operations or general publick who attend by purchasing a ticket to see the movies.
