Farmers Are Using Flowers To Beat Back Pests Instead Of Chemicals

Farmers Are Using Flowers To Beat Back Pests Instead Of Chemicals | CIHEAM Press Review | Scoop.it

New and precise techniques for monitoring how flowers impact surrounding crops makes the case for replacing pesticides with daisies.

A farm is its own ecosystem, but many conventional practices strip away the life cycle of all the creatures living in it by using pesticides. This makes sense, since crops can be decimated by the wrong kind of insect or other invader.

Drought Likely to Continue in Parts of Spain

Drought Likely to Continue in Parts of Spain | CIHEAM Press Review | Scoop.it

While the north of Spain and Portugal are in for an unusually wet spring, the threat of drought remains in Spanish olive country.
“The warm and dry weather will come at a cost as the threat for drought conditions will grow in eastern Spain,” AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alan Reppert said.

New Zealand's 'Food In The Nude' Initiative Cuts Plastic In Supermarkets

New Zealand's 'Food In The Nude' Initiative Cuts Plastic In Supermarkets | CIHEAM Press Review | Scoop.it
