Something Bizarre Happens to Your Brain When You Don't Get Enough Sleep

Something Bizarre Happens to Your Brain When You Don't Get Enough Sleep | Chumley Motorsports |

What did you do last night? Careful — if you didn’t get enough sleep, your brain could be lying to you.

Turns out sleep deprivation can do worse than give you memory loss. It can actually implant false memories in your brain. This discovery comes from a new study published this week in Psychological Science.

“We examined the relationship between self-reported sleep duration and false memories and the effect of 24 hr of total sleep deprivation on susceptibility to false memories,” the researchers wrote. “We found that under certain conditions, sleep deprivation can increase the risk of developing false memories.”

Lack of sleep has been linked to plenty of problems.

Working late nights to "get ahead" or catch up may well end up being counter productive and even damaging. Rather focus on prioritising better and getting more productive during the day - but make sure you sleep enough.

By Wendy Miller. Have you ever wondered whether you could save some money doing the car repairs yourself? Have you wished you could select a better auto repair shop or be able to better diagnose the problem with your vehicle?
Tim Chumley's insight:

Great advice!  Remember that maintenance is the key to keep your car running well and getting good gas mileage and we all want good gas mileage this day and age!  Also, keep in mind that even if you diagnose your vehicle that there cannot be a definite diagnosis until the vehicle is inspected by a professional.  There are times where even a mechanic may think it's one thing and it turns out to be another or there could be additional things wrong causing the problem not just one.  A good, honest mechanic will show you what needs to be done, if you ask, and show you all the worn parts.  Definitely ask questions!  Asking questions is the way you learn and know what's going on.  Happy driving!

Do Not Be Confused About Auto Repair Any Longer ...

Ask a mechanic any questions you may have regarding your car when bringing it in to their shop. These questions can involve issues you're dealing with and what you can do to avoid them in the future. You can save a lot of ...
Tim Chumley's insight:

These are some good points to follow.  Always remember when talking with your mechanic that he has to first inspect the vehicle before he can tell you what is going on.  Ask him if you can see the problem after he has inspected and and a good, honest mechanic will take you into his shop and show you what the problem is and what needs to be done.  Also, most mechanics will charge you a diagnostic fee of some kind depending on what is going on with the car and if you get the work done that fee is put towards the labor and you actually don't get charged the diagnostic fee.  This is how we do things here at Chumley Motorsports.  Remember to take care of your car and it will last a lot longer and get better gas mileage.
