Matt Altman's insight:

Butler and Teague are both parts of the Bulls' future. When Hinrich is done with the Bulls, Teague will fill the back-up role behind Derrick Rose. Butler emerged in the 2nd half of last season. He has developed into a strong defender and consistent scorer.

Add leadership to Rose's impressive skill-set
Chicago Tribune
On Tuesday, Rose and the Bulls begin one of the most anticipated seasons in franchise history.
Matt Altman's insight:

Rose is no doubt the leader of the Bulls. After missing the entire season last year, the Bulls lacked one of the most important qualities that a basketball team needs: leadership. Now that Rose has returned, he brings his game-changing athleticism and leadership.

Celebrate anyway, Bulls fans — Derrick Rose is back!
Matt Altman's insight:

Derrick Rose's return was spoiled by the Heat, but it sure is good to see him back on the floor. He really struggled after getting double teamed almost every time he touched the ball. The Bulls lost, but Chicago can be happy that he is back.

Deng: 'Rose will get better'

Deng: 'Rose will get better' | Chicago Bulls | Scoop.it
Chicago Bulls small forward Luol Deng believes that teammate Derrick Rose is a better player than he showed during their first game of the season.
Matt Altman's insight:

Derrick Rose struggled in his return to regular season action against the Heat last night. Derrick's teammate Luol Deng has his back and says that "Rose will get better". I think that Deng should worry about himself after having a terrible performance, scoring only 4 points and shooting 0-5 from 3-point territory.

Foul trouble keeps Butler, Deng off court for key run | Chicago Bulls | Scoop.it
MIAMI — Typically, Jimmy Butler and Luol Deng are as much a fixture on the court as the baselines. (Jimmy Butler and Luol Deng address their foul trouble that sidelined them vs. Heat.
Matt Altman's insight:

Jimmy Butler and Luol Deng were a combined +16 while on the floor for the Bulls. They were the only players with a plus rating while in the game. When they got into foul trouble, Tony Snell had to enter the game. In almost 7 minutes on the floor, Snell was -10. This stat alone shows the importance of Butler and Deng. When they aren't on the floor, they struggle.

Rose: Bulls' mistake-filled loss 'not end of the world'

Rose: Bulls' mistake-filled loss 'not end of the world' | Chicago Bulls | Scoop.it
When the Chicago Bulls gather for a Wednesday afternoon practice and film session at the Berto Center, a litany of mistakes will be available for review.
Matt Altman's insight:

1/82. That is how much of the regular season has been played so far. The mistake-ridden Bulls were topped by the Heat last night. It is just one game of the season. There is plenty of time for improvements, so there is no need to panic right now. Derrick Rose says that the loss is "not the end of the world".

Miami Heat open season by holding off Chicago Bulls 107-95

Miami Heat open season by holding off Chicago Bulls 107-95 | Chicago Bulls | Scoop.it
Another season. Another banner raised to the rafters. Not much has changed with the Miami Heat.Buoyed by a pregame ceremony in which they received their 2012-13 championship rings and watched a third banner hoisted to the top of the arena, the Heat...
Matt Altman's insight:

The Bulls got off to a good start, but later stalled and could not catch up to the Miami Heat. The Bulls fought hard in the 4th quarter but came up empty in the end. Carlos Boozer and Jimmy Butler were the only bright spots in the game. Too bad the Bulls weren't able to spoil the Heat's banner-raising ceremony.
