White House Crashers Remain Silent. 5th Amendment | Chapter 5 Bill of Rights Mini Project Nolasco | Scoop.it

Michaele and Tareq Salahi crashed the White House state dinner. They used the 5th amendment to get them out of asking questions. They took the 5th more then 25 times. They have the right to do so. The court had to leave those questions alone that the took the 5th on because of the 5th amendment in the Bill or Rights.

Ann Marie Rydberg's curator insight, March 5, 2014 7:56 PM

This article shows how the 5th Amendment is used.  The couple that crashed the White House state dinner are pleading the Fifth to avoid answering questions about how they evaded the Secret Service and eventually got through to shake President Obama's hand.  I think that this article is a great demonstration of the fifth amendment, but I find it very concerning that the Salahis were able to bypass what should have been some of the tightest security in the world.  Hopefully, the government will find out how the couple got past security and will take precautions to ensure that a breach will not be this easy in the future.

Right to Bear Arms & With Video

President Obama has finally spoke out about gun violence and is going against the 2nd amendment which says that all people have the right to bear arms. It is saying how it is the gunholder's responsibility to be safe with the guns and do the right thing. People are happy that Obama is talking about gun violence but also annoyed that he hasnt talked about this issue sooner.

Arizona: Serial Killer Mark Goudeau Gets Death Sentence. Amendment 8 | Chapter 5 Bill of Rights Mini Project Nolasco | Scoop.it

This article is about how a man by the name of Mark Goudeau who killed 9 people. Mark wassentenced to death. This article is against and not against the Bill of Rights depending on your side of the death penalty.  Some people may think the death penalty is cruel and unusual so they would say that this goes against the 8th amendment while others would say it is a normal punishment for what he did. In my opinion, Mark deserves the death penalty and so it does not go against the 8th amendment.

Casey Anthony, in Disguise, Takes the Fifth. 5th Amendment

Casey Anthony, in Disguise, Takes the Fifth. 5th Amendment | Chapter 5 Bill of Rights Mini Project Nolasco | Scoop.it

Casey Anthony took the 5th on every question asked about the murder trial. They had to allow Casey the rights to the 5th amendment and didnt have to testify against herself. This was a legal and smart plan by Casey Anthony which the court had to go by because of the Bill of Rights.

Kelsey Von Berge's curator insight, February 27, 2014 8:40 AM

Although the 5th amendment is something we need to follow and what governments have to proceed with, it really hurts in a case like this. Casey Anthony was all over the news and the fingers were pointing towards her for the murder by many people.  She chose to remain silent, making her seem more guilty, but also making the case harder to decide... Maybe that's why she turned out to be not guilty somehow.

Matthew hintz's curator insight, April 28, 2014 9:47 AM

She may not have done anything wrong and she may have done something wrong. But by the 5th amendment she couldn't be tried again because she was tried a couple times before this one. The other times make it so she shouldnt be tried again.

Brian Bertram's comment, May 3, 2014 10:03 AM
She could be tried again but not under the same crime. If she has been tried several times already, she is probably guilty of something and should be put in jail.
