Nerina Finetto's insight:

Simon Staffans:

"A couple of years ago I wrote that I believe the term ”transmedia” will become utterly redundant in a few years’ time.

...I think we’re getting there, quicker than I thought.

NewFronts: Content Is Great, Attention Is Better | Changes: Storytelling, Creativity and Content | Scoop.it
as newfronts approaches, marketers will look for media platforms that help them capture consumer attention, gian lavecchia writes.
Nerina Finetto's insight:

"Historically, storytelling offered marketers a direct pathway to drive deeper levels of emotional impact with audiences. How technology enables amazing content — on a race in the middle of the sea - GeekWire

How technology enables amazing content — on a race in the middle of the sea - GeekWire | Changes: Storytelling, Creativity and Content | Scoop.it
The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s most famous ocean sailing race. Its history dates back to 1972-73 when it was first called the Whitbread Round-The-Worl
Nerina Finetto's insight:

Satellites, onboard reporters, livestream interviews; boats fitted with fixed cameras and microphones: the ocean sailing race becomes a "stories" race!

T.A. McCann : "New this year is the introduction of the first-ever one-design boat to the race.

One of the biggest consequences of this one-design shift was an increased emphasis on media : a premium was placed on the ability for each boat to produce quality content allowing news organizations and the public to follow the race.

Each team features an onboard reporter.Teams communicate with race control via a system of satellites,

and the boats are fitted with five fixed cameras and multiple microphones for natural sound and dialogue."

In A New Marketing World, The Product Is The Message

In A New Marketing World, The Product Is The Message | Changes: Storytelling, Creativity and Content | Scoop.it

Design consultant and Cannes Lions product design jury president Dan Formosa says in the Internet age, the product is once again the heart of a brand.

Nerina Finetto's insight:

Great article! Rethinking marketing.

Dan Formosa:

"The Internet age has returned us to a time when product is the heart of a brand"

"The technology itself isn’t the key part of the story—it’s the effect the medium has on society. "

It "also had a huge impact on the meaning of brands, the influence of advertising, and the commercialization (and over-commercialization) of the world we know."

"A brand is a promise"

"An ad‘s goal is to communicate that promise.""The hallmark of a great brand is that it makes great promises, then over-delivers.""Because of this, lots of brands are okay. Fewer are good. Relatively few are great."Advertising has expanded beyond its traditional boundaries. Our messages are no longer coming from the top down.""Today, we own the media, and ... don’t need advertising or brand names to gain confidence in our purchases, we can look to our peers." "It means the product itself better be great. Not just good, but exceptionally great""The product is the medium—therefore, the product is the message."

Video Gamers Are Faster Visual Learners, Study Shows

Video Gamers Are Faster Visual Learners, Study Shows | Changes: Storytelling, Creativity and Content | Scoop.it
Kids who were experienced, regular video gamers adapted to visual analysis tasks more easily than non-gamers.

Via EDTECH@UTRGV
Nerina Finetto's insight:

"The Brown University researchers argue that, “gamers showed faster consolidation of learning when moving from one visual task to the next than did non-gamers.”

A causal relationship is not established between visual learning skill and video gaming. As the researchers say, the experiment does not prove whether video gamers have an enhanced visual learning capacity or that people with an innate ability become gamers because gaming is more rewarding for them."
