Catalonia independence timetable: 'Once it has started it cannot stop'

Catalonia independence timetable: 'Once it has started it cannot stop' | Catalunya | Scoop.it

Catalan voters are expected to return a pro-independence majority to the regional parliament on Sunday.

So what happens next? After the dust settles from Sunday's elections, widely forecast to return a pro-independence majority to the regional parliament, where does Catalonia go?

Angels Folch, a national co-ordinator of the hugely effective Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC), the grassroots association that organised September's 1.5 million-strong independence march, is fairly sure how things will pan out.

"We are confident of the outcome – independence," says Folch, a retired primary school teacher. "We have talked at length and in detail with all the main political parties in the regional parliament except the People's party [of the Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy], which refused...

Patatas Bravas are one of the most popular and traditional tapas in catalan cuisine. They are traditionally brought out at the beggining of a tapas meal. They were originally roasted potatoes covered in a spicy tomato sauce and drizzled with homemade mayonaise, but now this dish is traditionally fried potatoes with the usual topping.

The casa batillo was an apartment building built by antoni gaudi that consisted of the first unelectronic lighting and ventelating. He chose to use lighting techinques by creating incisions in the walls that curve down so that no rain could get in.

The inspirational architect Antoni Gaudi and his creation of Park Guell

The inspirational architect Antoni Gaudi and his creation of Park Guell | Catalunya | Scoop.it

Park Güell is a park built in 1900 in the barcelona mountain range that is a barcelona and catalan culture monument. It consists of a rustic trail that overlooks the city of barcelona, a few modern for their time, houses, a large complex that is built of many greek style pillars, and a staircase that had two mosaic creatures with water flowing out of their mouths. At the time, his work was unadmired and a mockery to catalan culture, because it was unlike anyhting else, however now it is a world wide phenomenon and respected by all of the catalan culture.

Catalan traditions remain a mystery to tourists

Catalan traditions remain a mystery to tourists | Catalunya | Scoop.it

Many tourists who visit barcelona are surprinsingly uneducated in the catalan culture. Many people had not known anything at all about what catalan culture was before they came to Barcelona, which offends the people greatly. http://t.co/LHJZCWU...
