Le Musee Carnavalet exhibits the Archaeological Crypt of Notre Dame which displays archaeological remains discovered during excavations from 1965 to 1972 in Paris. The crypt allows an overview of the architectural development of the Ile de la Cite, which is the historical center of Paris, and includes remains from the Middle Ages, ancient times, and major urban developments. The crypt shows Paris's history and how the City of Lights has reestablished itself for over two thousand years.

New discoveries in the catacombs of San Pietro and Marcellinus

Sarah Yeomans sheds light on the discovery of more than 1,200 individual skeletons found beneath a convent. These catacombs pre-date the larger, more complex catacombs used by the Christians in the Mid-Third Century AD. Anthropologists are studying the fossils to determine if this burial is caused by a plague or a less likely mass persecution.
