A good collection of high level tips showing all the stages of the sales process

Tia Ribary's curator insight, October 29, 2013 2:00 PM

Rarely does a sales article put it so plainly, in clear steps, on how to open, support and close the sale, as well as overcome client concerns. I've had a fair amount of sales training in my day (and supported numerous sales teams). Although written rather technically, this is a good go-to article for what to do...when you need it! And, all small businesses need to make sales!

Overcoming Nervous Nelly - Exploring the Harmful Effects of Anxiety on Performance

Overcoming Nervous Nelly - Exploring the Harmful Effects of Anxiety on Performance | cars | Scoop.it

A colleague is out sick, and suddenly it's fallen on you to deliver a crucial client presentation. The saliva dries up in your mouth, your heart races. You briefly consider heading home sick yourself, before moving into the conference room to discover your boss has decided to sit in. If you were in danger of failing before, now your anxiety has made failure a foregone conclusion.

We've all experienced the crippling effects of job performance anxiety. But far from being uniquely relegated to nightmare scenarios like the one outlined above, anxiety is a pervasive aspect of office life, says Harvard Business School Assistant Professor Alison Wood Brooks.

Interesting to see the performance difference from a simple reframe. What we say to ourselves before we are about to present, or indeed perform in some other way, has a real impact on our results. Anxiety is normal (http://www.speakingandpresenting.com/public-speaking-anxiety.html) and so is self talk. Make sure you are repeatedly telling yourself how exciting the situation is and how much you are looking forward to it. Lose the typical doomsday inner voice.

rodrick rajive lal's curator insight, October 29, 2013 9:55 PM

Wow, this is something that many of us have experienced at some time or the others in our professional lives. In many cases it is about salvaging the situation and making the best out of it. Performance anxiety sure hit you hard! It drives away the ability to think rationally and in a cool manner. In many cases, the boss expects the goods to be delivered and he or she may not be bothered about what you are going through! I guess you can pray to God for some inspiration or just trust that you are going to do your best!

Jennifer Lynn's curator insight, January 11, 2016 6:04 AM

Yes, you are absolutely right! Even if you are perfectly healthy and fine, you may fell anxious at some point of time in a day. A little bit of anxiety helps us to face big challenges of our life. When your heart starts racing fast out of anxiety or nervousness, use this condition in a positive manner to energize yourself to perform better. The best way to control such situation is by taking a deep breath. Click the following link to learn some simple steps to cope with anxiety: http://bit.ly/1UIIWc9

How much should you invest in social media marketing ?

How much should you invest in social media marketing ? | cars | Scoop.it

Perhaps the biggest barrier to an effective social media marketing initiative is both executives trying to sell social media internally and a failure to understand just how important social media marketing is to conversion. I could give you a lot of data about social media, it’s short shelf life, the fact that only 16% of brands facebook posts are read and the fact that engagement is down since facebook evolved to timeline but it’s much more than that.

Marketers need to have a deep understanding of what they are selling (hint: it’s not product features) and understand what makes someone want to purchase their product. In addition they need to know that just because someone purchases their product does not mean they want to have a relationship with the brand.

Silverman Research and Unilever recently surveyed 644 people from more than 30 countries to find out why more companies don’t use social media. Participants highlighted 16 different barriers companies face when incorporating social media, but they considered these four the most significant...

A prudent conclusion here

"Instead of relentlessly demanding more consumer attention, treat the attention you do win as precious."

Leo Chan's curator insight, May 30, 2014 4:37 AM

Yes, when it come to social media marketing, more isnt better.

In my opinion, the main goal of social media marketing is user engagement.

The quality of the information is much more important in this case..

Jacques Dupeyroux's curator insight, September 12, 2014 6:57 AM

It is crucial for corporate level executives to understand how increasingly important social media outlets for business are with a future trend set to take over advertising and brand equity building.
