Police officer

Police officer | careerinfo | Scoop.it

Did you know that becoming a police officer is extremely hard? Only 1 in 100 people make that journey! That is a really large failure rate that could persuade people to not even attempt it. First of all you need to get all the programs from college or university. The test at the academy first of all cost a price of 300 dollars. Then the other tests include an intellect test, fitness test, interpersonal skills, hearing, vision, a spelling test, and 6 interviews. The intellect test is 90 questions in 90 minutes, it is used to try and test the IQ of the applicants, and they want them to answer all questions one minute each to see if they are fast enough to react. The fitness test is like any other fitness test, but they need to score a 6.5 on the beep test. Interpersonal skills test is how the applicants would negotiate in tense situation, for example if someone has a hostage or there is someone about to jump off a building, they need to know how to mitigate the problem. Hearing and vision test is self-explanatory; everyone should know what they are. The spelling test seems insane, it is a list of 566 words and only 40 get picked at random for you to spell; you need a 75% in thirty minutes. But to get even worse than the spelling test, six interviews is over doing it, there is a true and false with is 700 questions, then with that test you receive a psychological assessment. The ECI is 5 questions that you need to answer in a span of three hours.
