Effects of adjuvant chemotherapy on recurrence, survival, and quality of life in stage II colon cancer patients: a 24-month follow-up.
Graham Player Ph.D.'s insight:

Results of a study, published this week, conclude that stage II colon cancer patients who received chemotherapy treatment were more likely to have poor quality of life, a cancer recurrence, and more likely to die within 2 years of their diagnosis compared to those who did not receive chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy Has Been Shown in Scientific Studies to be a Cause rather Than a Cure for Cancer.

Chemotherapy Has Been Shown in Scientific Studies to be a Cause rather Than a Cure for Cancer. | Cancer - Advances, Knowledge, Integrative & Holistic Treatments | Scoop.it

The world is now realizing how deadly chemotherapy is, and how it actually makes cancer worse.

Graham Player Ph.D.'s insight:

Researchers from the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington, found that chemotherapy, which is a recognized poison, damages the DNA of healthy, non-cancerous cells, causing them to produce molecules that in turn produce more cancer cells.

In his book The Healing of Cancer, Dr. Allen Levin, M.D. explains that “Most cancer patients in this country die of chemotherapy.”  He goes on to write “Chemotherapy does not eliminate breast, colon, or lung cancers. This fact has been documented for over a decade, yet doctors still use chemotherapy for these tumors.”

She said she wouldn't do it, but now a Colorado Springs mother treating her young son's cancer with marijuana has put him back on chemotherapy.
Graham Player Ph.D.'s insight:

I post this so that everyone can be aware of the power of the medical system to be able to force by law its own standard of care chemotherapy treatment on a child with cancer, even thought that child’s parents may disagree.

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Can Stimulate Evolution of Breast Cancer Tumor

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Can Stimulate Evolution of Breast Cancer Tumor | Cancer - Advances, Knowledge, Integrative & Holistic Treatments | Scoop.it
Russian scientists have found that neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer can stimulate evolution of the tumor. The results of the research conducted by Nicholay Litvyakov, D.Sc. at Cancer Research Institute, Head of the Tumor Virology Laboratory, and TSU researcher Marina Ibragimova, were published in "Siberian Journal of Oncology."
Graham Player Ph.D.'s insight:

Researchers have found that 23% of women who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior to surgery had new tumor formation.

Cancer Drugs Rankings Suggest Many Are of Little Benefit to Patients.

Cancer Drugs Rankings Suggest Many Are of Little Benefit to Patients. | Cancer - Advances, Knowledge, Integrative & Holistic Treatments | Scoop.it
Leading experts call on pharmaceutical industry to focus on coming up with meaningful drugs and boost levels of effectiveness
Graham Player Ph.D.'s insight:

Many modern cancer drugs are of very little benefit to patients, according to a group of leading European experts (members of the European Society for Medical Oncology), who have devised a way to score them and have published results. Among the drugs that do badly is Erlotinib for pancreatic cancer, which offers just 15 extra days of life.

The publication, which includes scores for more than 70 cancer drugs, has been published in the Annals of Oncology Journal, and can be read here - http://static.guim.co.uk/ni/1432986420413/Ann-Oncol-2015.pdf .

Prof Richard Sullivan from Kings College London stated that “Over the past decade, more and more medicines have been going on to the market with lower and lower levels of benefit.” He questions “Are we really designing the trial that needs to be designed to prove clinical benefit or are we just trying to get [the drug] into the market? Is it genuinely for patients or to sell medicines?”

US Court Rules that Chemotherapy is the Only Acceptable Treatment for Cancer

US Court Rules that Chemotherapy is the Only Acceptable Treatment for Cancer | Cancer - Advances, Knowledge, Integrative & Holistic Treatments | Scoop.it
17-year-old wanted permission to make her own decision about chemo, even if doctors disagreed
Graham Player Ph.D.'s insight:

The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that a 17 year-old, Cassandra, will be forced to subject herself to chemotherapy for cancer treatment of Hodgkin’s lymphoma despite her and her family’s wishes not to follow chemotherapy as it is toxic and poison. After refusing to take the drugs Cassandra is now in custody of the State, confined to a hospital room, and the chemotherapy is being forced upon her.

At age 18, in 9-months from now, Cassandra is regarded as an adult and is allowed to make her own decisions. But right now the State makes her decisions for her medical treatment. When Cassandra turns 18 she would have completed her chemotherapy treatment.

I feel, as a community we must ask ourselves if this is what we want and expect from our medical system. Does medicine have all the right understanding and answers to everything in the health area? There are many indications they do not – particularly in the field of cancer, based on what I read every day.

Meanwhile we are forced to live under the heavy hand of this highly controversial law.
