Exclusive New HDSLR Concept Monitor – UnReleased » CheesyCam | "Cameras, Camcorders, Pictures, HDR, Gadgets, Films, Movies, Landscapes" | Scoop.it

Yes. The images look quite funky, but they were purposely modified to be a little discreet. I can assure you that the product is real. It’s actually been in design for a few months, and this is the first images ever released. So what is it and what does it do? It’s a 5.6″ swiveling LCD (about the size of a SmallHD DP6) that connects under a camera like a battery grip.

"I reckon there’s probably very few people in the world right now who’ve done the range of mad things we’ve done with the Sony FS100 in the last few weeks. Mountains, caves, volcanoes, beaches, boats, dancers, beds, kitchens, helicopters and rednecks. It’s been nuts. So here are a few utterly shameless bts photos of what we’ve been up to with the baby Sony"

Scenes from Kashmir

Scenes from Kashmir | "Cameras, Camcorders, Pictures, HDR, Gadgets, Films, Movies, Landscapes" | Scoop.it

"Kashmir is a scenic land of tranquil beauty. A longstanding dispute over control of the region ensures that life for Kashmiris is anything but tranquil. Both India and Pakistan claim Kashmir, and a fortified Line of Control separates forces. China also administers part of the region. Two wars have been fought between Pakistan and India since borders were drawn in 1947, and the predominately Muslim area chafes under Indian control. In August mass graves were disclosed that likely held the bodies of "disappeared" civilians killed during insurgencies years ago. The disclosure was one of a series of incidents which keeps the region tense. The political dispute and attendant violence disturbs what should otherwise be a culturally vibrant, lushly beautiful idyll. Collected here are images from the last several months in Kashmir, a region of roughly twelve and a half million people."

Canon EF 135 mm f/2L USM review

Canon EF 135 mm f/2L USM review | "Cameras, Camcorders, Pictures, HDR, Gadgets, Films, Movies, Landscapes" | Scoop.it

"The Canon EF 135 mm f/2.0L USM was launched in April 1996 so dating back to an era by and large completely dominated by analogue photography. Despite the fact that 15 years passed by from its launch it is still considered to be one of the most interesting and best lenses in the whole Canon line-up. What’s more, during that long time since its launch the lens has paid for itself, covering the financial outlays of its design and production; that’s why right now it can be offered for a very affordable price for an L-series instrument. All of these make it a very popular instrument among the owners of Canon reflex cameras.
However, will a lens, designed to cooperate with a roll of photographic film, manage to cooperate well with digital detectors? The 135 mm focal length is a portrait classic but only on full frame. Nowadays Canon full frame reflex cameras have as many as 21 million of pixels, making it difficult even for contemporary optical devices. How a 15-year-old construction will deal with it? We decided to check it and perform a full test of that lens to find out these answers."

"One of the problem of shooting with the 5D and other members of its family is the mini-HDMI port. While it is technically usable, when you are in the field, you quickly realize how precarious the wire is plugged into the mini-HDMI slot."

Underwater images from a Lake Michigan Stonehenge

Underwater images from a Lake Michigan Stonehenge | "Cameras, Camcorders, Pictures, HDR, Gadgets, Films, Movies, Landscapes" | Scoop.it

In a surprisingly under-reported story from 2007, Mark Holley, a professor of underwater archaeology at Northwestern Michigan University, discovered a series of stones – some of them arranged in a circle and one of which seemed to show carvings of a mastodon – 40-feet beneath the surface waters of Lake Michigan. If verified, the carvings could be as much as 10,000 years old – coincident with the post-Ice Age presence of both humans and mastodons in the upper midwest.
