Molly Petersen's curator insight, March 5, 2014 11:02 PM

This article is about a criminal case against Carlos Trevino a Texas man that was convicted of rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl at a public park. Eventually a habeas appeal was heard in the Supreme Court, this considers whether the defendant's constitutional rights were violated during his or her original trial. In this case they were reviewing if he was given ineffective assistance of counsel denying him his Sixth Amendment right to a competent lawyer. Basically he believed that his attorney did not devote adequate attention to him and his case.

Taylor Knesel's comment, March 6, 2014 1:32 PM
I don't think his 6th amendment rights were violated. His lawyer listened to what he had to say.
