It's not about adding technology to training, but about changing training

It's not about adding technology to training, but about changing training | Café puntocom Leche | Scoop.it

From development to co-creation

When it comes to developing the solution(s), once again it is not a matter of the Learning Consultant taking over the task – and delivering a fully-formed resource for them, but is more about helping the team to co-create their own solution. A great example of this is the collaboration platform that was built for LV= customer service reps. This initiative has now won a number of awards, and (as a judge for one of the awards) I am convinced its success is wholly due to the fact that it was the CSR team themselves who identified this approach as the solution to their problem, rather than it being imposed upon them.

Without forgetting the relational nature of learning and teaching. Is it accountability or responsibility? Or is it a combining both? Judith Butler speaks about giving an account of one's self which is the way we respond and are responsible for learning.

There is no doubt that social media provide excellent ways to communicate with parents, but they are not the only ways. It is one way that includes face-to-face conversations. It would be interesting to find out what Derrida might conclude in using his concept differance which was not a correctly spelled word.

Coaching v mentoring: what works best for teachers?

Coaching v mentoring: what works best for teachers? | Café puntocom Leche | Scoop.it
Teacher Andrew Jones explains the difference between coaching and mentoring, and how they suit different professional development needs

Coaching, on the other hand, consists of peer-to-peer discussions that provide the person being coached with objective feedback on their strengths and weaknesses in areas chosen by them. While discussion is led by the coach, they ask questions that allow the professional seeking advice to reflect on their practice and set their own goals for improvement. This is the opposite of mentoring as the coach does not evaluate, judge or set targets, and the person being coached is in full control of the discussion.

Unlike mentoring, coaching also gives the recipient more say on the direction of their professional development and encourages them to take more ownership of their CPD.

Teaching is simultaneously one of the hardest and one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. We often say that students make it worth it, but there’s something else that can make or break your happiness as a teacher: your colleagues.

Collaboration begins with finding time to connect with colleagues, to share thoughts, and provide support. Here are three tips for successful collaboration...

So true. I collaborate with four colleagues on our Humanities curriculum, a combined ELA and Ancient History class, and the growth in quality of the curriculum has been incredible. We have 3-4 hours per week of collaboration time, and we use that time fully. Collaboration is a force multiplier.
