A Rovi study has provided updated metrics on connected TV owner demographics and usage for the first quarter 2013. When compared with previous results, the findings suggest the market for connected TVs is maturing rapidly.

The audience for connected TVs is shifting, with females now – for the first time since Rovi and Decipher began polling the market in 2011 – representing the largest portion of owners at 55 per cent. Owners of connected TVs now represent a far more balanced range of age groups with a decrease in 25-34 year olds and an increase in older viewers.

Toshiba and Rovi partner for DivX TV streaming

Toshiba and Rovi partner for DivX TV streaming | C2M : veille Digital Media | Scoop.it

Toshiba has partnered with Rovi Corporation in a deal that will see it launch a range of digital TVs certified for DivX Plus Streaming.

The move will enable Toshiba TVs to support entertainment services from over-the-top providers such as UK retailer Dixons’ KnowHow Movies service, which is powered by Rovi’s technology.

Rovi Corporation, driving digital entertainment innovation, has announced that Freescale Semiconductor is releasing an Android chipset certified for DivX Plus Streaming.  The Freescale i.MX 6Quad applications processor with Android Integrated Circuit (IC) is designed for use in a broad range of consumer electronics (CE) products running the Android operating system and provides a path for the secure over-the-top delivery of HD content.
